adidas ACE 16.1 // New generation of the Control silo

Less than a year is the time adidas has needed to upgrade the ACE line, they've followed the feedback given by their players and we get a more modern design and they also bring back some tech specs from the past that we all loved.

In May 2015 adidas surprised the world by restructuring their entire football boots history collection. They decided to discontinue the Predator line, the adizero F50 line, the Nitrocharge line and the adipure line and the collection would be based on two new lines: ACE and X, or as adidas explaind us in the launch event: the Control boot and the Chaos boot. To be honest, in Soloporteros we all thought that ACE would be the biggest succes of these two models but it was actually X the model to "win the battle". So adidas decided to take a step forward and upgrad the ACE line with the new ACE16.

The adidas ACE16 is a mix of different concepts. In one hand we have that it's an upgrade of the 2015 models with an agressive look (especially with the new branding which is a lot more visible in both sides) making for a modern aesthetic which some of you though was missing with the first generation launched back in 2015.

But in the other hand we can see that the outsole has gone back to the SprintFrame (a technology that adidas decided to remove after 5 years as one of the best outsoles they had) and the studs which are back to the traditional number but with something unexpected: Conical studs! For those playmakers who need control, to make turns and need stability this outsole is going to best the best option.

Same as with the past generation adidas offers different finished for the top of the range ACE model, one that comes with a Kangaroo leather upper, another one with a synthetic upper and a third one with a woven upper. The Kangaroo leather upper is very soft and feels really nice, offering great touch with the ball and a material that will stretch to the shape of your foot for a perfect fit.

But probably the biggest upgrade in this pack is the new ACE16+ Primeknit, with an entire woven upper with a special and very thin synthetic layer to make it more resistant and water resistant. What impacts us the most is the new shape of the boot with a mid cut profile.

There's not much more to say about Primeknit that you don't know: a woven upper which is very light and offers a nice elastic compressive effect for a sock like fit, like a second skin.
