Puma evoSPEED Superlight, inspired in dragonfly wings

Puma's new collection brings an unespected surprise, a new generation of the evoSPEED Superlight beating all light records in Puma football boots and getting extremely close to the 100 g wall.

The two current models from Puma, the evoSPEED and the evoPOWER, present an interesting  balance between power and lightweight. But maybe those who are crazy about the extreme lightweight in boots were missing a models which would be even lighter. Because, allthough the evoSPEED is made for fast players, the weight of the model is not excessively light.

But Puma has decided to take a step forward and design an evolution model of the evoSPEED with the tag 'Superlight' reducing the weight to a rediculous number of 103 g in a size 8.5UK.

Some of the best football player worldwide, including Sergio Agüero, Marco Reus, Radamel Falcao, Marco Verratti or Antoine Griezmann will be the ambassadors of this boot on the pitch. So it seems like this evoSPEED Superlight model, will have the support of proffesional player on the pitch, thing that doesn't usually happen with other brands.

The main element responsible of the weight loss is the super thin, lightweight and semi-translucent synthetic material we find in the new upper, plus it allows for a direct contact with the ball.

Can an upper this light weight be unstable? Well obviously yes, but that's why Puma has been workin on The SPEEDFRAME technology that has been placed underneath the upper is a cage with dragonfly wings design that will add support to the entire structure. EVA insole with Pebax foam for a perfect cushioning.

A classic characteristic sign in the evoSPEED, which stays the same in the Superlight model, is the external heelcounter. Because a boot this lightweight, made to be aggressive on the pitch, must have a perfect support and fit.

Another key element in every single boot is the traction area. Tha's why this outsole has received a special treatment so it can provide the player support and stability. The plate is made with Nylon and with different areas for a perfect balance: stable in the mid foot to protect against injuries and flexible in the front portion.

In the stud pattern we will find a combination of conical studs with bladed studs. The conical studs will help with sharp cuts and turns and the bladed studs will give support and traction on speed actions.

And as always, there is an element which we find in all Puma models which eis the SPEEDTRACK bar, designed to hold up with all the torsions in the game and give us an extra support.

The colorway chosen for the launch of the evoSPEED SL is a simulation of explosive lava, a bright red color created exclusively for PUMA

When Sergio Agüero saw for the first time these boot he said, "I'm still surprised with these boots. When I received them at home a couple of weeks ago I thought the box was empty. This is a huge step forward and PUMa has done and incredible job creating them".

Marco Reus, said: "It's a big change if you compare it to what we have been using. It looks and feels like a complete new product. They are so light you almost can't notice them. But still they give me the exact support I need. Great way to design a boot"

Saludos. Natxo.
