The jersey features a design that draws slightly on the past, as it retains the ‘red and black’ colours characteristic of Milan’s home kit, but this time it is clearly inspired by one of the ‘Rossoneri’s’ finest eras, which reached its peak in the 1969–70 season, when they won the European Cup against Johan Cruyff’s Ajax.
New jersey for the Rossoneri
This inspiration is therefore reflected in the refined lines that feature on the jersey, both at the back and the front. This style of lines or stripes was widely used in the Italian side’s early kits, and was featured in the season when, in addition to the titles, the club’s icon Gianni Rivera also won the Ballon d’Or.
The rest of the jersey retains the collar, which, whilst not ‘V’-shaped, has been modernised and made round, giving it a much more minimalist look and greater comfort. Another detail that simply had to be included is the classic ‘red devil’, which has been associated with Milan since its foundation; when the club’s founders, Herbert Kilpin and Alfred Edwards, established the club, they chose ‘il Diavolo’ as its symbol, with red and black as the colours, to strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. This is therefore positioned at the back of the jersey's collar, ensuring the devil’s presence remains.
The rest of the jersey retains the Puma logo on the side of the sleeve and across the chest, without adding any further details or flashy elements, thus maintaining the retro and minimalist aesthetic characteristic of the kit it is inspired by.
From a technical perspective, the jersey is made from the German brand’s finest materials, with the brand once again opting for ‘Drycell’ as the main technology used in the kit’s construction. This helps regulate body temperature whilst wearing the jersey and also aids in the effective wicking away of sweat.
This is the new AC Milan jersey, a jersey steeped in history that retains all the essential details whilst paying homage to one of the Rossoneri’s finest eras. Now available on the Futbol Emotion website.
