I'm sitting in front of the desk thinking on how to communicate the new adidas collection. It's pretty hard to explain in just one single post the huge revolution that adidas has prepared for May the 25 when they will release the biggest change in their history. So I'll do my best and in the following days we will be uploading more video reviews on what this change means.
NEW COLLECTION ESSENCE
First of all there are two main ideas that explain the change:
- Football has evolved. Everything is faster, there is a different rhythm of players and ball, new surfaces with the artificial grass incorporation... the game had evolved but we still had the same boots.
- Two types of players. After several months of studies with professional football players they have differenciated two types of players. And they will not be based on their possition in the pitch but in the way they play:
- - Ace player. The player who want to control the game and guide his team with sense and rhythm in base of their needs. A player like Özil, Xabi Alonso or Manuel Neuer would be Ace player.
- - X player. Wants to creat chaos. The X is the unpredictable player who can surprise and change a game with a single action. A player like Marcelo or Luis Suarez would be X players.
So since we have two types of playes we only need two types of boots. Why 4 or 5 different silos if there's only 2 types of players? With that ideas adidas has created two boot models: adidas Ace 15.1 and adidas X 15.1. And both models have a leather a synthetic version. Because the classic player has evolved but not dissapeared.
And to be clear: Predator, adiPure, F50 and Nitrocharge were som spectacular models. So they aren't dead. Just wont be produced any more. Now they are legends.
STRAIGHT FROM THE OVEN WITH A NEW COLLECTION
Now that we now why adidas has brought this revolution lets talk about what you really like: the straight from the oven with the new collection.
ADIDAS ACE 15.1 LEATHER

Lets start with the adidas Ace Leather version, probably the most classic of all 4 version of this new adidas collection. These are the main characteristics that we will find in this boot:

I want to explain the main characteristics of every single model of the 4 versions and their performance in the pitch.

When we describe this model we have to talk abou the super soft kangaroo leather we find in the upper. It's more in the thicker side and it's very flexible just like the classic boots with a leather that would stretch and adapt to the shape of your foot giving it an extra power, reinforcement, feeling your foot more armed, something that you don't get with thinner leather uppers. We also have the internal control skin technology to add more power.
adidas ACE Leather - Heel counter 360 game control
adidas brings back a classic element that lots of us missed: the external heel counter. The name for this elemente is 360 game control, which is actually an evolution of the external heel counter we could find in adidas boots of 10 years back. It probably affect the aesthetics of the boot but it gives a good locik sensation with a great fit and comfort.

We don't usually tend to focus in this element but in this model it's pretty curious. This is the new groundcontrol. Today we have more artificial football pitches that are more and more similar to natural grounds. So adidas hase been the first in develop an AF/FG outsole for both surfaces.

We continue this Straight from the oven with the synthetic version of the adidas Ace. It's the same model as the leather version but with a different material for the upper. Let's see the technologies we will find here:

As you probably imagened, the main difference in this boot comparing to the leather version is the synthetic ControlSkin upper which has evolved and has improved the HybridTouch and the Predator Element.

The new synthetic ControlSkin combines 3 main characteristics. A base mesh which is veru flexible and offers a good fit. A black plate with several bending channels to distribute the pressure around the entire upper when contacting the ball. We will find more black surface in the areas that are more likely to touch the ball and don't need as much flexion. And the las characteristic as the gel dots we can see placed over the entire upper in that will add gripp which is one of the most important things a player wants in his boot.
adidas ACE Synthetic - Heel Stabilizer
Just the same as in the leather version of the new adidas ACE this synthetic model has the Heel Stabilizer to lock your foot securely. So there wont be any action when you'll feel your foot slipling out of the boot.

And obviously with the same hybrid outsole for artificial gras a natural grass, tested in several football pitches with professional player in natural and artificial grounds.

I gues you've already seen photos of this new boot and it's pretty shocking when you see it the first time. Goodbye to the three braning stripes from adidas because this time we have a weird element in the laterals... And I get that it might be shocking and you might actually hate it. But there is an explanation to it. first lets talk about the technologies:

Just like in the leather version of the ACE here we have kangaroo leather again. It's harder to find boot with this material becaus the tend is to find calfskinf leather uppers which are good but not as good as the K leather.

But without a doubt the main characteristic in the X model, in both versions, is the SpaceFrame, and synthetic material that adds material to the laterals of the boot generating benging areas that at the same time add support to the entire structure.

The outsole, just like in the ACE modle, is a combination of two different plates that will be useful in artificial and natrual surfaces although, the stud pattern and the bladed studs will have a better traction in high agility movements.

And we will finich this analysis with the model I consider that is the biggest revolution in this new collection. The adidas X synthetic. The rest of the models are still new with the entire pack but this synthetic adidas X is the most shoking one with the design and sensations it will give.

The synthetic SpaceSkin material gives form to the upper. It's actually a combination of two woven material with a layer covering for more protection and it's very flexible and soft, it fits really good comparing to other synthetic boots. You can't appreciate it in the photos but you will find a super soft intern foam in the toe box area that will add cushioning when contacting the ball.

Again we fin the SpaceFrame in the laterals but it won't be the same as in the leather version. In this boot the main element is goning to be the Techfit sock that will give you a one piece sensation on feet. For those of you who don't know this element, it's a high quality lycra material that adidas has been using for a long time in their textile clothing. And in these football boots it can't feel better.

And last, just like the leather version, we have the hybrid outsole for natural grass and artificial grass so you don't stugle when choosing a model.
