FC Barcelona's kit

The jerseys of the big clubs often tend to look too similar year after year, making it very difficult for designers to stand out. Fortunately, however, this is not the case with Barça, where Nike is once again taking a risk, just as it did years ago, with a completely fresh and innovative design that is sure to turn heads.

In this design, the classic stripes associated with the Culés have been set aside somewhat, with the club crest taking centre stage on the shirt. The Creu de Sant Jordi features prominently on the right-hand side, alongside a series of very fine lines representing the classic stripes of the FC Barcelona crest.

The other stripes are narrower than in previous years, and the red colour appears on the cross, whilst the blue background remains on the left-hand side. As a result, each sleeve of the jersey is a different colour. The pattern of horizontal stripes is more consistent on the back, as it needs to be uniform to accommodate the players’ numbers and names.

As always, the other details can be seen on the cuffs and collar, with a semi-open neckline and, of course, the Catalan flag on the collar. The rest of the kit will be complemented by two-tone shorts, which may vary from match to match to avoid clashing with opponents’ colours. A special jersey, whichever way you look at it.

On the technical side, the shirt is made entirely from recycled polyester, as has become standard practice for Nike in recent years. To achieve this, the American brand recycles thousands upon thousands of plastic bottles, transforming them into pellets and then into top-quality yarn, which is ultimately used to create the fabric for the shirt and kit.

This fabric also features Vaporknit technology, which effectively wicks away sweat without adding bulk, keeping you feeling cool and dry at all times. Of course, as with all Nike jerseys, there’s a fan version, which features Dri-Fit as its star technology, as well as a more adaptable fit and cut.

And this is the new FC Barcelona kit, a bold choice that moves away from classic or repetitive designs and offers a fresh look for all Barça fans.  As always, it’s now available on the Fútbol Emotion website.
