I wasn't the best student back at school. Just average. But there was a class that a did especially enjoy back when I was in high school: Art history. It's been 200 years now but I still have very good memory when it comes to that class. That's why I was so glad when I saw for the first time the new design of the Puma evoPOWER boots with a XX century art design: POP ART
I'm not going to bore you with an art class, but what I am going to do is put you in context so you can understand why they've implemented this design in these football boots. Pop art is obviously a XX century modern movement with Andy warho as its main face, and it had some main characteristics like using popular cultural elements like comics, celebrities or advertisment but separeted from their normal context or combined between them. If you sear for "POP ART" in Google you'll find tons of images that have been summarized in a boot like this:
Onomatopoeia, dotted drawings, comic aesthetics ... And these pastel tones so characteristic at the time. The result is a striking football boot, but with a backdrop behind to this decoration that seems to me risky... but very funny.
When it comes to the tech specs of this boot, we've said already everything about the Puma evoPOWER in all our reviews. You know that this boot is one of my personal favorites in the market. I love to talk about its Pros and even about some small Cons that Puma hasn't achieved to erase even with the second generation.
But lets talk a liitle bit about it's Strong Points, The reasons why I like so much this football boot, and the most important is the adapLITE synthetic material in the upper. This elastic material (only elastic in a longitudinal direction) allows the boot to have an elastic efect when striking the ball, an effect that is similar to the one we get in a Golf swing or a tennis raquet, this way they achieve a lightweight boot with great sensation when striking the ball. The AccuFoam also helps when striking the ball but doesn't add weight.
A second strong point to talk about in this football boot is the outsole. It's the only element that stays the same when comparing to the 1st Puma evoPOWER generation. It's still hard for me to clasify it as a classic outsole for creative players or a reactive outsole to improve high speed actions. We can say it's a mix of both concepts. And it's important to talk about the bridge area that features the GSF (Gradual Stability Flex) technology that will allow the extra flexion but will avoid dorsions so you don't get injured.
And the negative points? not too many but it does have some. One of the most important facts is that we dont have one of the best sensations when contacting the ball because the synthetic upper has to get better. But we must say that it is better than the sensation we got with the first generation of the Puma evoPOWER.
We will soon see these new Puma evoPOWER POP Graphic boots on the feet of players like Cesc Fábregas and Mario Balotelli among others. If you want to get your pair they are available know i our website!
