A new year and a new top 5 list of the best boots of 2021 which, as we always point out, are personal choices and may not necessarily match your own. With that out of the way, let’s get started.
Mizuno Morelia 2 Elite
We’ve included this model because it’s still an absolute top-of-the-range boot in 2021. The new white and blue colourway features Mizuno’s classic colours that we still love.
This is a classic boot, made from kangaroo leather of truly superior quality, and is perhaps the classic boot that has aged best. A product of this calibre simply had to feature in our top picks.
Puma King Platinum 21
Not everyone was keen on the redesign of this boot, but we certainly were, as it retains the essence of the Puma King whilst incorporating certain modern touches, making it a very good choice.
Genuine leather and reinforced panels on the sides are combined with Puma’s iconic knit fabric on the tongue, ensuring exceptional comfort. A real hit from Puma in 2021.
Nike Mercurial KM
Nike’s special design for Kylian Mbappé for this boot is absolutely brilliant. In our opinion, it’s the best design of the year for this range; those flame-like patterns on the sides next to the Swoosh really seal the deal and earn it a place in the top three.
From a technical standpoint, the new Nike Mercurial football boots are more Mercurial than ever; the new dragonfly design that shapes the upper is fantastic and gives those of us with wider feet the chance to experience Nike’s fastest boot.
adidas Predator EQT
The entire EQT collection from the German brand is a real treat, and its adidas Predator boots are no exception. The pure white colourway with green detailing not only pays tribute to adidas’s rich heritage but also gives the Predator that special, distinctive look.
Technically, the boot is incredible thanks to the inclusion of Demonskin 2.0; excellent touch and aggressive grip are guaranteed. Predator is back and remains at the cutting edge.
Predator Pulse
The fact that a boot from 2004 still stands out today speaks volumes about the quality and success of adidas’s design. The remake, featuring the sole from the current adidas Predator range, is simply perfect. The colour scheme and the fit it provides are sensational.
This list wouldn’t be complete without the boot that so many of us have worn – adidas’s reissue of the Predator Pulse in gold, black and white is absolutely stunning. The quality of the leather, the Predator branding and the tongue make this Predator the best of the year.
New Balance Tekela
We didn’t want to round off this list without a special mention, and this time it goes to the New Balance Tekela, a boot which, as you know, has been a hit with everyone who’s tried it.
NB’s craftsmanship is exceptional, with a knit that becomes incredibly comfortable after just a few wears, as well as the Kinetich Stitch, which provides that extra grip that’s so essential these days. We simply had to mention this model, which is undoubtedly brilliant.
And that brings us to the end of our personal top 5 best football boots of 2021 – a difficult choice, as it’s been a year with many special releases, which only makes us even more excited to see what the brands have in store for 2022. Are you ready?
