Over the last few months, it has been very common to see top-level Puma players wearing all-black boots, particularly during training sessions. From the photographs and the players themselves, it was clear that these were Puma Future boots, but their ‘blackout’ finish meant we couldn’t tell whether they were a new generation or simply a redesign. Well, last Sunday the 17th, thanks to the promotional video featuring Thierry Henry and Griezmann’s debut of the boots in the France v Albania match, everyone discovered that we were looking at a completely new generation of the Puma Future, accompanied by a complete redesign of the upper. A new masterpiece from Puma.
Puma Future 5.1
The new Future boots are entirely inspired by the brand’s most dynamic players, such as Antoine Griezmann, Marco Reus, Luis Suárez and Dzsenifer Marozsán. The upper has been completely redesigned, both in terms of its appearance and its technical features. A new, adaptive NETFIT system provides support for an upper made entirely from KNIT. The Future boots react as you move your feet, thereby improving both fit and stability. In this way, Puma has placed agility at the heart of its design, allowing us to define this new boot as: AGILITY REDEFINED.
Technical features: Puma Future 5.1
On the technology front, there are many aspects worth highlighting in this new generation. As we have already mentioned, the star of the show is the new, adaptable NETFIT technology, designed to provide support for an upper made entirely from KNIT. The entire upper is constructed as a single piece, allowing the fit and structure of this boot to act like a kind of extremely flexible second skin. The fabric used in the upper provides greater freedom of movement for the foot, which is particularly important for players whose game relies on rapid and constant changes of direction. As with previous generations, NETFIT will continue to offer multiple lacing options to customise the boot’s fit.
The upper is enhanced with GripControl Pro technology, applied as a layer over the boot’s key strike, passing and control zones. This improves the material’s performance in crucial areas such as the central part of the upper and the lateral impact zones. To round off this boot, there is another feature we consider essential: the RAPIDAGILITY outsole. This is an extremely lightweight and agile outsole which, thanks to the combination of conical and laminated studs, provides greater traction and stability in any situation and enhances the player’s explosiveness during multi-directional movements.
