21/22 balls

In today’s post, we’ll be taking a look at all the match balls for the 2021/22 season. Let’s get started!

Having looked at and analysed all the different kits, including boots, gloves and jerseys, it’s now the turn of the match balls – an item we often overlook, though we really shouldn’t. That’s why today we’re showcasing all the match balls from Europe’s top leagues.

Nike Flight Serie A

Let’s start with the Italian league ball. The Serie A ball is inspired by the competition’s logo; in fact, you may have noticed that the colours used for this ball are the same as those in the logo: light blue, white and a darker blue. As well as being a clear reference to the league’s logo, these shades stand out very well on the pitch, making the ball easier to see for outfield players and, above all, for goalkeepers. As for the technology, we haven’t seen any new developments from Nike. It retains the same technologies as last season, when this ball received very good reviews.

Nike Flight Premier League

Let’s stick with Nike, but let’s move to England, where the climate is much colder and subject to frequent adverse weather conditions. That’s why the American brand decided to give the design of this ball a rather bold and unusual look. Nike designed a pattern covering the ball’s surface: a black pattern accompanied by small orange circles. If you take a look at the Fútbol Emotion website, you’ll see that we don’t have just one colourway, or two, but three, designed for different times of the year.

The heart of La Liga

With this slogan, Puma unveiled the new ball for the Spanish league: “The Heart of LaLiga”. Here, too, we find two balls in two different colours. The first is much more understated and classic, whilst the second is far more eye-catching. In this case, too, the choice is designed to allow for a change between the winter and summer seasons. The concept on which Puma has based the design, however, is rather curious, or rather, has little to do with the Spanish league. Puma chose the world of anime to create the ball’s design, a universe completely removed from the league in which clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona play.

Select

Without a doubt, this is the most classic and understated ball we’ll see today. The Portuguese league decided to put its trust in Select, a brand specialising in this type of product, and, as expected, it hasn’t disappointed. An exceptional ball in terms of aesthetics and flawless in terms of functionality. The Danish brand opted for blue and white, a winning combination that has taken the local league by storm.

adidas Champions League

We’ll finish with the Champions League ball. We’ve finally seen it roll across the pitches of Europe’s most impressive stadiums, and it has undoubtedly been one of the highlights of the week. Although the design is very classic, with the usual stars forming the panels, it has to be said that adidas has managed to give it a very interesting retro and vintage touch with intense, eye-catching colours such as yellow, orange and, finally, pink.
