Euro 2024 Countdown

Following their historic and flawless qualifying campaign, during which they scored thirty goals and conceded only two, Portugal are now counting down to their first match against the Czech Republic in Leipzig. This will be the team's sixth consecutive appearance in the tournament and the sixth for captain Cristiano Ronaldo.

In recent weeks, the new jerseys that the team will wear to represent their country have been unveiled, as has the list of players who have been selected to compete for the trophy.

During the qualifying phase, which marked the beginning of Roberto Martínez's tenure as Portugal coach, 31 players were selected. A number of promising youngsters made their debut during this period, while key players who were part of the cycle that saw Portugal crowned Euro 2016 champions in France announced their international retirements.

Several players stood out during the qualifying phase, but the ones who shone brightest were Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 10 goals, and Bruno Fernandes, who provided 8 assists and played in more games than any other player. The captains are leading a new generation aiming to win the tournament in Germany.

The list of players selected reflects the complexity of the decisions the coaching staff have had to make, and highlights the enormous talent and quality in Portugal. While some players have been omitted, it is worth remembering that controversies surrounding call-ups tend to fade over time. This was evident in 2016 when Ederzito, who lacked widespread public support, emerged as the hero who secured the title in France.

Before the tournament begins, Portugal will play warm-up matches against Finland, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland. Our Euro 2024 group stage opener is on 18 June against the Czech Republic at the Red Bull Arena in Düsseldorf. We then play Turkey at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, before closing the group stage against Georgia in Gelsenkirchen on 26 June.

A new tournament brings with it a new collection of kits with which Portugal will proudly defend its colours. Nike Football, which has been with us since 2000 in all major tournaments, has presented the new line of shirts, the result of a partnership that has been going on for more than 20 years and has left its mark.

The main shirt sees a return to the classic red and green combination, a design that pays homage to the colours of our flag. However, the standout piece is the second kit, which draws inspiration from the iconic Portuguese tiles that symbolise our cultural and architectural identity. This jersey is sure to quickly win over fans and followers of the national team.

The new Nike collection for Euro 2020 features Dri-FIT ADV technology: a fabric that wicks away sweat and provides enhanced ventilation where heat builds up most, ensuring players stay comfortable even during the most intense moments.
