New adidas X SpeedPortal

Summer is here, and we have a new release from adidas. The evolution of its fastest silo, let's meet the new arrivals: adidas x SpeedPortal.

With the arrival of the new X, we have a new model within the German brand's speed range that brings many new features that we love. Let's start with the upper, which has undergone slight but significant changes.

adidas X football boots

Primeknit remains the main material used in the construction of the boot, with a slightly stiffer coating than in the previous version to give the boot a little more grip and structure.

Other changes to the upper include the introduction of new EVA strips, just at the end of the adjustment area of this laceless boot, and a spike-shaped pattern on the inside.

The Eva strips are responsible for providing even more support and securing the foot to the boot, something we will notice when moving sideways and which is particularly useful in a laceless boot. As for the studs, they are not differential, but they do provide extra grip, very reminiscent of older generations of adidas Predator boots

Let's continue with the sole, because if there is one thing that sets a speed football boot apart, it is the sole. The name of this new plate is Speedframe, which slightly modifies the studs without losing the essence of this silo, maintaining the key to reactivity with the famous Carbitex, or carbon fibre plate.

We have triad studs, including two small central studs that improve traction when turning and accelerating at top speed. The carbon fibre plate is slightly larger than in the previous version, making it one of the most responsive soles on the market.

The latest addition we see on the plate are the stability wings, which are these two side strips that we had not seen before on a football boot and which help to provide even more support and better secure the foot to the boot, as well as giving us extra support when running.

We conclude by discussing the last and overall silhouette of the boot, which gives us a slightly wider boot with more space in the toe area. This allows adidas to introduce a slightly more neutral boot that improves in terms of structure, touch and traction. All very good steps forward for the German brand's fastest boot.
