New Nike Phantom Gx

Nike updates the Phantom silo with a completely new design that is a huge step forward. Let's take a look.

The Nike Phantom football boot silo was reminiscent of previous versions of Mercurial, with Flyknit as the main material and a truly aggressive sole. Following this, the American brand's machinery got into gear and presented us with a completely new boot, which we can already tell you will delight lovers of this silo.

Speaking of the new Nike Phantom GX, as usual, there are two versions: a high-top with a Dynamic Fit collar and a low-top without it. The high-top version also incorporates the lace cover we saw in previous generations of Phantom, the famous ghost laces technology, which is a thin layer of thread that covers the laces and keeps the striking surface clean. The rest of the boot is completely the same.

The shape or silhouette of the boot remains very similar, and it also uses Flyknit as the main material for the upper. However, it has two layers: the first inner layer that hugs our foot, and the second layer on top called Nike Gripknit, which is a new type of knit that comes directly from Flyknit Ultra and combines different types of yarn to give us a very soft and comfortable upper while providing fabulous grip when in contact with the ball..

This area is also water-resistant, which ensures that we will maintain that touch with the ball, even in rainy or muddy conditions. The touch itself is not overly aggressive or hard-gripping, but rather has a more ‘sticky’ feel, which reminds me a lot of the feel we had with the 2013 Nike Hypervenom

The sole has also been completely redesigned. Conical studs are mixed with laminated or ‘arrow-shaped’ studs, giving us a very free feeling when turning and changing direction. It is a less aggressive and reactive sole than the previous generation, which makes it more comfortable and malleable, but with less pure traction than before.

In conclusion, we have a completely new boot that returns somewhat to the origins of this silo, focusing more on touch, grip and comfort as reasons to choose the new Nike Phantom Gx as our next boots. A success in every way, making us want to never take them off our feet again.
