The Puma boots designed for the Argentinian God, Diego Armando Maradona.

Not too long ago, we received an interesting question on our Youtube channel: Which boot brands have been worn by the best players in the history? The answer was easy: PUMA

Puma has been worn by very important players such as Pele, Cruyff or Maradona. For the last one, the brand has decided to pay him a tribute by creating a remake of the Puma King, the boots he worn during his professional career. The design is outstanding, and will probably become a collector´s item for many fans of the Argentinian player.

Maradona is considered by many the best player in the history, and although we are not going to join that discussion, we do love this type of products, those that pay a tribute to players who have help this sport become the most popular one in the world.

What are we going to find when purchasing a pair of Puma King Maradona boots?

As it usually happens during this type of launchings, everything has to be perfect, and the presentation is key. That is why Puma has used the usual Football Classic Packaging which provides the boots with an elegant and distinctive touch to match the boot model.

Maradona´s boots, just like any other classic boot, is equipped with a very high-quality leather framework on a black colour-way and a white Puma logo, just like most Puma boots from back in the day. At this point it may seem like a regular boot, but… its details are what make it so special.

On the tongue, there is a tag designed with Maradona´s portrait, on the exterior side we have the words “Puma Maradona-Super” plus the number 10 embroidered on the heel, a number that stayed with him during his entire career. The interior side includes the Argentinian´s player signature.

To be honest, the detail I like the most is the ones included on the insoles. What about it? On the left one, we can see the number 10 again above his name. The right one presents a drawing of the legendary play he created to score versus England, one of the best goals ever scored in a World Cup, when he dribbled past every English player just as if he was playing with younger kids on the school´s playground.

We finish this post by talking about the outsole, which is equipped with 12 conical rubber studs distributed all over it. Another outstanding detail is the three rivets on both the front and the rear parts of the outsole, just like those included on the old-school boots. This way Puma provides this model with a more classic look.  Honestly, we have nothing negative to say about this launching.
