2019 Elite Camps: Benidorm and Castejón de Sos

The 2019 Elite Camps kicked off at two of our most established venues, Benidorm and Castejón de Sos. More than 50 goalkeepers took part in each camp, learning and training with the country’s top goalkeeping coaches. Our participants were able to enjoy double training sessions, professional training camps, educational talks and many more surprises.

We’re kicking off our summer camp season with the first two venues:

Firstly, Benidorm, a traditional fixture on our calendar. Once again this year, we’ve enjoyed the facilities at the Albir Garden Hotel in Alfaz del Pi, in the province of Alicante. A natural grass football pitch, a 4-star hotel and even the hotel’s own water park, where the kids could enjoy their free time. These were just some of the benefits enjoyed by the participants at this Elite Camp.

Meanwhile, those who preferred to spend the last week of June in an idyllic setting in the Aragonese Pyrenees chose the Castejón de Sos campus. Sports facilities including a natural grass football pitch and a swimming pool, a rural, family-friendly hotel ideal for participants and coaches to relax, daily training sessions, and the largest Scalextric track in Europe for a fun afternoon during the week.

However, the standout feature common to all our camps has been the high calibre of the coaches. Clubs such as Valencia, Málaga, Levante, Eibar, Huesca, Girona and Nástic de Tarragona have given their goalkeeping coaches the opportunity to share this experience alongside the stars of the show – the goalkeepers who came to enjoy each of the training sessions organised by the coaches on a daily basis.

Training sessions like those for professional goalkeepers, with double sessions every day and a methodology typical of a professional team. All of this meant that the more than 50 goalkeepers who came together at each camp improved and learnt by leaps and bounds. Concepts such as blocking, aerial play, footwork and reaction speed were among the skills the goalkeepers worked on day in, day out, but this didn’t mean they didn’t have their share of fun training sessions, where the goalkeepers competed against one another to show who was improving the most.

Without a doubt, these were two highly successful camps, where everyone present learnt, enjoyed themselves, bonded and became a family united by a shared passion: football goalkeeping.
