The new Umbro Chaleira II Pro shoe is already making its mark in the world’s top indoor football venues – and we’re not just saying that for the sake of it. This new boot from the British brand Umbro is being worn in the National Futsal League (LNFS) by several players representing the top teams in the world’s best league, such as: Batería, Araça, Didac and Adolfito – the latter two playing for Fútbol Club Barcelona – amongst many others.
Umbro Chaleira II Pro
This new Umbro shoe isn’t just any old boot – we’ve named it the best futsal shoe of 2018. Of course, in the history of any football discipline, there are certain brands dominating the sector, and it seems increasingly difficult to make a dent in their dominance, but Umbro is confident thanks to its tradition and standing. One thing worth noting – and this is neither a positive nor a negative point – is that this Umbro Chaleira II Pro is practically identical to the first-generation Chaleira. If something works, why change it?
This new shoe is the complete opposite of its sister model, the Umbro New Vision II, which is geared much more towards the fast and skilful player. This new Chaleira II has a clear focus: control, power and precision – assets for any player who knows their role on the pitch. Furthermore, the shoe has been developed in one of the meccas of futsal, Brazil, under the influence of the world’s best futsal players.
The upper, crafted from natural leather, further highlights – if that’s even possible – the immense influence this material has on futsal. New technologies must blend with classic design; that is why these futsal shoes combine leather with synthetic materials, ensuring an optimal fit for the foot whilst offering exceptional lightness and a sense of control when striking the ball. All this is complemented by a toe cap reinforced with suede to ensure a perfect strike and protect against wear and tear.
The biggest difference compared to the first generation is this: whilst the chassis is very similar, the structure is much more reinforced, featuring a support panel with fewer micro-perforations. This is an important point, as we mustn’t forget that this boot is designed for control and precision. A less significant detail is that the characteristic Umbro logo is no longer visible on the heel; instead, on this Chaleira II Pro, it has become a much more prominent feature.
Moving on to the midsole, which is high-profile, it is made from pre-moulded EVA foam, providing excellent shock absorption, and is combined with a rubber outsole featuring several transverse flex lines and a herringbone pattern, as well as a rotation axis that facilitates turns. As this is a high-profile shoe, it provides an excellent feeling of cushioning.
You only need to take a quick look to recognise the performance of these shoes; you just have to look at the top professionals who have worn them at the highest levels of futsal: Adolfito from Spain, Romulo from Russia, the Portuguese stars Bebe, Fabio Cecilio, Tiago Brito and Miguel Angelo, the Englishman Doug Reed and the Brazilian Batería.
