Antoine Griezmann 'Le petit diable'

We were in Madrid with Antoine Griezmann for the launch of the new Puma Future colourway, and this is the future that Grizou asked the German brand to create.

Puma invited us to discover their most groundbreaking football boot model, one that breaks the mould and introduces a major innovation in boot fit – and no, it’s not a new sock or a new material; it goes much further, offering the possibility to customise the way we lace them up.

Upon arriving in Madrid, we soon realised that the panther brand had a few surprises in store for us, and the biggest one was undoubtedly the chance to discuss the boots with ‘The Little Prince’ himself – Atlético Madrid and France international Antoine Griezmann.

As for him, he’s a very friendly person; he was always on hand to explain the reasoning behind some of the most striking features of his boots and demonstrated considerable technical knowledge of football boots; more than that, he showed he had a clear idea of what he wanted in his boots.

First and foremost, he told us about the thousands of fitting options offered by NetFit, and he had a great time searching for ‘his perfect fit’ – which is what a boot is all about: it has to be your boot.

NetFit completely bucks the trend for laceless boots and, at the same time, offers the possibility of customising the boot and its fit, making it a truly groundbreaking innovation on the market.

We asked Griezmann whether he’d made a special request to Puma and whether the brand had incorporated it into this model.

“The most important thing is to have round studs, …, because when I accelerate – and I often do so on the balls of my feet – I used to slip a lot, so they’ve made an effort and listened to me.”

At the Puma event, we also learnt that, of all his nicknames, his favourite is “Grizou, le petit diable” – a nickname that dates back to his time at Real Sociedad and which he remembers fondly.

“Le petit diable” really impressed us, both as a person and with his new Puma Future boots.

We were delighted to have had the opportunity to share this experience with one of La Liga’s best strikers.
