Warm-up exercises

Simple exercises to start goalkeeping training. Very simple warm-up exercises, but with a different component to make them more entertaining.

Hello again!

We consider the goalkeepers warm-up to be one of the most important parts of the session. We're sure it's happened to you... if the goalkeepers have a good time in the warm-up, they keep their attention and willingness to work until the end of the session. On the other hand, if we start the session with a boring warm-up, it is difficult to get the goalkeepers' attention back and it is possible that they will be distracted throughout the session.

This warm-up is usually a little difficult at first as it involves coordination, especially with younger children, but it will certainly keep their attention.

Exercise 1:

Description:

The goalkeeper starts by jumping over the four fences in front of him with his feet together. After jumping over the last hurdle, we jump up to the bosu and support ourselves with both feet. In the same way, we come down from the bosu with another jump and perform a low block with a fall, initiated by the goalkeeper coach.

I have also drawn another variation, changing the direction of the hurdles and placing a ball near the Bosu, balancing on one leg, going down, catching the ball and passing it to the goalkeeper coach. Continue the exercise with the last action.

The Bosu is a widely used piece of equipment for working on balance, central stability and proprioception, as well as strength and coordination.

Objective:

To do a dynamic and fun warm-up to start the second part of the session, working together, strength, coordination and proprioception exercises.

Variations:

There are many variations, both in jumping and with the bosu or the goalkeeper trainer's own throw. Jumps with both feet together, with one foot, sideways... fix the jump on the Bosu with both feet, with the left foot only, with the right foot only... land in the same way. Low, medium, chopped...

Pay attention to:

Balance on the bosu, coordination in the supports on the bosu, without forgetting to block in the last action.

Exercise 2:

Description:

The exercise starts by jumping onto a minitramp, and 4 jumps are performed on one leg, changing legs alternately and turning clockwise, to finish again, in the initial position.

The goalkeeper comes down from the minitramp and hits a ball that is located close to the minitramp. The ball is hit at half height to a team-mate who is about 8 metres away. The teammate blocks the ball and takes a tense kick with his hand. Again, the goalkeeper blocks and takes another kick with the hand to a new team-mate. The direction of rotation is indicated on the graphic.

Objective:

To achieve a dynamic and entertaining warm-up to start the second part of the session, working together, precision, coordination and blocking exercises.

Variations:

There are variations on the minitramp jumps, the ones proposed above are just a small sample. The serves with the hand can be replaced by tense shots as the warm-up progresses, even incorporating a lateral fall, for example, in the last action.

Pay attention to:

All external elements such as minitramp, Bosu, fitness balls, steps,... tend to distract the attention of the little ones, be careful with this! Communicate that it is very important to perform all actions well.
