As with every special edition released by the German brand, we must begin by recounting its history. The story of the Copa football boots featuring Primeknit dates back to 2019, when a commemorative pack was launched to celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary.
This collection brought one of today’s most revolutionary materials – knit – to the most classic and iconic of adidas football boots. It was a collection that was a huge hit and laid the foundations for the boots we see today.
New adidas Copa Mundial 21 PK
Today, in 2021, we see how the concept behind those adidas Copa 70Y boots has been retained, with the formula repeated by crafting an upper entirely from Primeknit, whilst retaining the silhouette and shape of the current adidas Copa boots. This Primeknit is more classic and refined than that seen in current models, and much closer to the German brand’s earliest knit designs.
We’ve drawn inspiration for this colourway from the Samba Pack released back in 2014, which featured a range of bold colours, and from which we previously released a version of the Copa in a very similar colourway.
They look fantastic and, as we’ve come to expect from the brand with the three stripes, they’re incredibly comfortable. They take their design cues from the aforementioned Copa 70Y, but feature the sole of the new adidas Copa Sense football boots. The Copa style is retained, with the long tongue and, of course, a certain softness at the front reminiscent of the stitching on the original adidas Copa Mundial boots, as well as the name on the side.
We are therefore looking at a very special edition with nods to different eras and boots from the German brand, which will not disappoint fans of adidas’s classic style, now infused with new materials and a much more contemporary fit. A very special boot that is now available at Fútbol Emotion.
