Following one of the most significant fixtures in Europe’s top competition last Thursday, 29th of August, in which they were drawn in Group D alongside Leverkusen, Lokomotiv Moscow and Cristiano Ronaldo’s side, Juventus of Turin. Atlético Madrid have surprised us with the shirt that is set to be the red-and-whites’ main away kit for the 2019–20 Champions League.
Atletico Madrid third kit
Atletico de Madrid’s third kit is steeped in symbolism; it is a true source of local pride for the fans, conveying the unique spirit and culture of this team. Much like the FC Barcelona jersey, the spirit and passion of 1990s football is directly reflected in the fans. What would the Atletico spirit be without its Madrid pride? Seven stars – the same number found on the club’s crest and on the flag of the Community of Madrid – are printed on the collar of Atletico’s 2019–2020 third football jersey.
Each star represents one of the seven stars of the constellation Ursa Major and refers to the sky over Madrid’s Sierra de Guadarrama, which is so clear and vast that it allows for a perfect view of the constellation. The Atletico Madrid 19-20 third kit is, as mentioned, predominantly light blue, with navy blue logos and detailing. Interestingly, the jersey features a very distinctive collar design, with the sleeves finished in dark blue, contrasting with the base colour – very much in keeping with the design used between the 1990–1992 seasons.
Technical features: Nike Football
It wasn’t all going to be retro. It’s 2019 and, although Atletico Madrid is a traditional club, it knows how to adapt and keep up with the times; as demonstrated by the change to its crest and the odd outlandish kit. The Vaporknit technology is what the players will be wearing in their matches – the club’s top-of-the-range jersey. This technology is designed to minimise friction and provide ventilation. Naturally, with this high-end Atletico Madrid jersey, lightness and an optimal fit will be key to ensuring that both you and the players perform in the best possible conditions. These Atletico Madrid jerseys have a special feature: as well as being among the best jerseys for footballers, they’re environmentally friendly. These kits are made from at least 96 per cent recycled polyester, meaning that each jersey uses an average of seven plastic bottles.
