Turkish side Galatasaray’s third kit was unveiled today, just as the world’s premier club competition, the Champions League, is about to get underway. This follows one of the most significant draws for Europe’s top competition last Thursday, 29th of August, which saw them drawn in Group A alongside Club Brugge, 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid and, finally, the Parisian side, which we discussed recently when talking about PSG’s third kit.
Galatasaray third kit
Galatasaray’s third kit draws clear inspiration from the 1999/2000 season. In the early 2000s, the Turkish side was one of the most feared teams in Europe, both for its style of play and its passionate supporters.
Turkish side Galatasaray, together with Nike Football, are celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Cimbom’s’ finest season. That 1999/2000 season marked a new beginning and a new era in Turkish football, with the team winning a quadruple of cup titles, including the UEFA Cup. It is highly likely that these Galatasaray kits will be on display for their Champions League debut, when they travel to face Club Brugge on Wednesday evening to kick off their campaign in Group A.
The Galatasaray jersey brings back Nike’s iconic logo, which also features prominently on Chelsea’s third kit, for example. This kit for the team from the Bosphorus stands out for its grey colour – the same colour used in the club’s most successful year – whilst incorporating the distinctive stripes seen on Galatasaray’s home kit.
Technical features: Nike Football
It wasn’t all going to be retro. It’s 2019 and, although Galatasaray is a traditional club, it knows how to adapt and keep up with the times. The Vaporknit technology is what the players will be wearing in their matches – the Turkish club’s top-of-the-range kit. This technology is designed to minimise friction and provide ventilation. Naturally, with this high-end Galatasaray jersey, lightness and an optimal fit will be key to ensuring that both you and the players perform in the best possible conditions. These Galatasaray jerseys have a special feature: as well as being among the best jerseys for footballers, they’re environmentally friendly. They’re made from at least 96 per cent recycled polyester, meaning that each jersey uses an average of seven plastic bottles.
