New Balance Furon v7 and Tekela v4

New Balance is revolutionising the market by simultaneously updating its two most important silos. Today we present Furon v7 and Tekela v4.

It is clear that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is approaching, and brands are going to pull out all the stops to ensure they do not go unnoticed during such an important event. New Balance has been the first to step up and revolutionise the market by evolving its two silos with on-field support in one fell swoop.

We will begin by discussing the New Balance Tekela football boots, now in their fourth generation. This silo has been a pleasant surprise, as both professional footballers who have given them a try and amateurs alike have declared that the Tekela boots are by far some of the most complete boots on the market.

In this new generation, we still have the same boot concept, but the American brand has set out to improve certain details in order to continue taking small steps forward with this silo. The first new feature is found in the ‘sock’. It is made of an elastic material called ‘HypoKnit’, which incorporates internal cables to improve the fit and ensure that this area hugs the foot.

On the inside, we find another new feature of the new New Balance Tekela v4 football boots. The Boston-based company has decided to add extra synthetic material in the form of strips to increase the Tekela's performance when in contact with the ball. The addition of these strips will increase grip and improve the feel when passing with this area of the foot, which is essential in a boot positioned in the “striking football boot” niche.

But when it comes to new features, we cannot overlook the new sole of the New Balance Tekela football boots. It consists of four semi-conical studs at the rear and fourteen at the front. Yes, you read that right, fourteen. Seven of them are conical and located in the usual areas, but the novelty lies in the other seven, which are laminated and placed on the outer areas of the soleplate of these New Balance football boots. A bold decision by the brand, which we are eager to try out on the pitch to see how this new sole feels and whether it really is a step forward, or quite the opposite.

And from Tekela we move on to the New Balance Furon football boots, the most widely used silo by professionals of the American brand. On this occasion, the changes are significant compared to the previous generation of Furon. A last that at first glance appears wider is one of the new features we find, and if this is confirmed, we would be looking at a change of concept in New Balance's lightest silo.

Another key feature of the recent New Balance Furon football boots is the lacing, which has been moved to the outer edge of the upper to eliminate any interference between the striking area of the boot and the ball.

In this same central area, we find another major innovation. On top of the HypoKnit, the same material used in Tekela, New Balance has added another layer of the material that forms the rest of the upper, which is somewhat unusual, as it has been a while since we have seen a two-piece shell with one piece on top of the other. It seems that New Balance has decided that it was time for this concept to make a comeback. Moving on to the sole of the new Furon football boots, there are no new features or changes here, just the same plate with laminated studs that will help us traction in all directions when we need to do so at high speed.
