New colourway for New Balance Tekela and Furon

We’re right in the middle of the football boot launch season, and New Balance has just unveiled its new collection: “Phantom & Sulfur”. This collection introduces new colourways for the Tekela V2 and the Furon V5. Let’s take a look at what these new versions have to offer.

New Balance continues to work towards establishing itself in the football market and competing with the sector’s leading brands. It currently sponsors numerous clubs around the world, such as Liverpool FC, FC Porto, Celtic FC and Athletic Club. Among the world-class footballers who have put their trust in its boots is Sadio Mané, striker for Liverpool’s Reds. When it comes to advertising and marketing, NB Football spares no expense, both in its campaigns and in the development of new products. And, as far as boots are concerned, we do not believe that this is its weak point either. Both ranges are designed to meet the demands of modern football and deliver top-level performance. The real challenge for New Balance, as for other brands trying to gain a foothold in this market, is to compete with manufacturers who have been designing and developing products specifically for football for over 30 years.

The American brand is known for giving its collections a ‘backstory’, presenting each launch with its own narrative. However, this new collection takes a simpler approach: an aesthetic refresh with fresher colours for the Furon and Tekela models. The two ranges feature very different colourways, with a striking contrast, but they share one detail: the colours of the upper and the iconic New Balance ‘N’ are reversed from one model to the other. On the Furon, the upper is entirely fluorescent yellow and the ‘N’ appears in black. On the Tekela, it’s exactly the opposite.

In terms of technology, both ranges share the same features. Even so, let’s take a look at the key highlights of these two New Balance boots. We’ll start with the Tekela, designed for playmakers – the footballers who make a difference and aren’t afraid to ask for the ball, take responsibility and take on their opponents. The upper is made from synthetic microfibre and features Kinetic Stitch technology, comprising a series of micro-stitches that help control the material’s flexibility. This ensures the boot retains the structure needed to provide a secure fit and maintain the feel we look for with every touch of the ball. Finally, the outsole stands out, featuring exclusively conical studs that facilitate turns and changes of direction.

Sadio Mané’s boots are designed for fast, explosive and unstoppable players, capable of attacking at speed and who need power and precision in every move. Their upper, which is more compact and hugs the foot, offers a fit that makes the boots feel like a second skin. The outsole is designed to enhance speed and rapid changes of direction. It also features triangular studs that provide greater stability with every movement. Speed boots for true sprinters.
