In Italy, there are two types of people at the moment: those eagerly awaiting the Azzurri’s first match against Albania, and those who are lying. The arrival of summer is always a light-hearted, carefree time, when we all put aside everything we’ve been doing all year and start thinking about having fun, holidays and friends. However, some summers are better than others, and this one has all the makings of a great summer. With the start of the EURO, June and July will be full of good times and the streets of Italy will be decked out in white and blue, the colours adidas has chosen for our Azzurri’s two jerseys.
The home kit, as always, evokes the culture and, unsurprisingly, blue takes centre stage. This time, however, the German brand’s three stripes play a key role, highlighting the colours of our flag. Although many may think it is a simple jersey, the Italian national team’s new home kit conceals some very interesting details, such as the light-and-dark pattern on the front and the phrase ‘l’Italia chiamò’, taken from Mameli’s anthem.
If, on the other hand, you prefer something more classic and elegant, well, the away jersey is definitely the one for you. It’s white with flashes of red and green, creating a colour scheme that, in this case too, references the tricolour. In short, this is the jersey our lads will be wearing for away matches.
