The new Nike React Gato futsal shoesare making their debut on the 40x20 scene. Don’t worry, this new release does NOT replace the hugely popular Nike Lunar Gato II futsal shoe; and let’s be honest, ever since the Nike Lunar Gato II returned in 2019, the desire for a pair of futsal shoes that deliver optimal performance, look stunning and offer simply brilliant comfort has been the order of the day. So, not only is the American brand giving us the chance to buy a shoe we’re all already familiar with, but today Nike has also just unveiled a new product – a sports shoe – a real gem that’s set to revolutionise the sport of futsal as we know it.

More than just a bold statement, with the launch of its new futsal shoes, the American brand Nike aims to emphasise its commitment to completely transforming the futsal industry, enhancing performance in the sport itself and showcasing the brand’s passion for this wonderful discipline.

Nike React Gato – Futsal revolution

We’ve now reached the moment you’ve all been waiting for: a look at the technologies featured in this new shoe and what we can expect from it on the pitch. These new Nike React Gato futsal shoes are set to revolutionise the game, offering an innovative approach to control and cushioning underfoot.

The upper of this shoe is one of the most important parts, as it has also been completely redesigned. The React Gato is designed to withstand abrasion from the pitch, impacts and also to provide better ball contact. The softness you’ll feel the moment you touch these shoes is down to their extremely soft Flyknit upper – as is the case with most Nike football boots – but at the same time, they’re also more durable thanks to the protective TPU overlay. This perfect harmony between the two materials results in a very comfortable and adaptable fit, thanks to the way it hugs the foot.

Turning to the outsole – which is essentially what gives this shoe its name – we can see these small yellow dots, which are the flexible modules that provide the so-called control over our feet, resulting in ever-improving internal sensitivity when touching the ball. The sole is made almost entirely of REACT foam – the material that will set these futsal shoes apart from all others, as it will provide all players with much more responsive cushioning, whilst also offering a great sense of softness and bounce in every movement and impact. For those of you who aren’t aware, there’s a long-standing debate surrounding this foam: adidas Boost versus Nike React shoes. With this new release, we’ll see how this technology is applied to our sport.

The players who wear the legendary Nike shoe – Ricardinho, Cardinal, Rivillos, Batería, Saad, Ferrao, … – will continue to rely on the Lunar Gato II thanks to its outstanding performance, whilst occasionally trying out the Nike React Gato model. In our opinion, this is more down to a commercial strategy on the part of the brand. Mind you, we are not saying that this new release doesn’t do the job, or that it’s a bad product – far from it – we are simply saying that the standard set by the Lunar Gato on courts around the world is something that’s very difficult to match or surpass.
