With the launch of the new Umbro Tocco football boots, which we’ve already covered, the diamond brand has got the year off to a flying start and looks set to continue bringing great products to the market. Today it’s all about speed, and what better way to celebrate than with a new model of the Umbro Velocita – a boot that’s been a hit with everyone who’s dared to give them a go.

In a world full of lightning-fast footballers, Umbro’s new football boots have been designed with the aim of ensuring that every aspect of the boot is specifically tailored to unlock the speed and agility that every player possesses.

This speed is enhanced by the soleplate, which features an ultra-lightweight Pebax plate and a stud configuration utilising Sprint+ technology, providing truly aggressive traction. It also features tri-directional studs, which help players get in and out of the pitch with every acceleration or change of direction at top speed.

And now we come to another change, which has a direct impact on the boot’s upper: the shell retains the brand’s signature double-diamond silhouette and is constructed from a mesh and knit material that covers the entire shell. This upper combination brings improvements in two key areas: firstly, we have improved lateral support thanks to the new technology known as V-frame – those V-shaped straps we see on this almost translucent upper – which are responsible for tightening the boot and providing that lateral support during changes of direction and turns.

Secondly, we have the Vent Knit Adaptative, which is located in the heel counter and lacing area, and is responsible for providing that adaptive fit to keep our foot in the right place at all times; you could say it corrects our posture to prevent any kind of roll-over and keeps our foot where it should be. A complete success.

In conclusion, the new ultra-lightweight sole, the changes to the upper and the new translucent design give us an ultra-lightweight boot, weighing barely 200 grams, with a feel and fit on a par with the best speed boots. Without a doubt, the new Umbro Velocita is a step forward in Umbro’s fastest boot range.
