The return of Neymar’s Hypervenoms – Nike Phantom VSN 2 Remastered

The first of the four releases from Nike’s new collection has now been unveiled. Under the name ‘Future DNA’, this collection draws clear inspiration from the past and takes us straight back to the boot ranges that defined an era in football. All of this is in line with the concept Nike has chosen for 2020. Today we officially present the new Nike Phantom Vision II Remastered.

The year 2020 is particularly important for Nike, as two of the year’s major football events will take place during this period. From the 12th of June to the 12th of July, Euro 2020 and the Copa América will be played, not to mention that both tournaments will follow hot on the heels of the 2020 Champions League final. Despite all this, Nike is keeping up the momentum. In a year that will also be marked by significant changes and developments in the world of football, the brand has just unveiled the first of four special launches set to take place on Fridays throughout March. This first launch introduces a remastered version of the new Nike Phantom Vision II, clearly inspired by the 2013 Hypervenom I worn by Neymar.

Nike Phantom Vision II Remastered Future DNA

With this first launch, Nike makes its strategy for this year very clear – a year of transition for many clubs and players. Whilst some footballers are beginning to fade from the limelight, other young talents are bursting onto the scene, gaining increasing recognition and embarking on their path to stardom. The campaign’s name, ‘Future DNA’, is a clear statement of intent: to inspire today’s young people through the winning DNA of the great stars of the recent past.

A collection that will make a strong impression on the pitch, worn by Nike’s young stars. Germany’s Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen is the first to take centre stage, as he will be one of the brand’s first footballers to wear Nike football boots from this collection.

These new Nike Phantom VSN II boots are clearly inspired by the original Hypervenom, considered by many to be one of the best football boots of all time: the 2013 Nike Hypervenom I, which Neymar wore during his time at FC Barcelona. These boots combine Nike’s latest technologies with clear inspiration drawn from the winning DNA of the great stars who have shaped the brand’s history.

A pair of boots that complement the new VSN II design perfectly, featuring a black and bright citrus colour scheme. Aesthetically speaking, it’s easy to spot the similarities between this design and that of the Hypervenom I OG, as Nike has retained both the placement of the Swoosh and the famous skull on the back of the boot’s inner lining.

Technical features: Nike Phantom VSN II Future DNA

As far as technology is concerned, these new Phantom VSN II boots are exactly the same as those unveiled in early January this year. This is, therefore, purely a cosmetic update. Even so, as is customary in our blog posts, we’ll go through the key features of this boot. These new Nike Phantom VSN boots feature a Flyknit upper, which has an ACC synthetic overlay on the outside. There is also a larger contact area with the ball in the upper part of the boot thanks to Ghost Laces technology. The Dynamic Fit Collar has been reduced in this new generation of the VSN, resulting in a lower profile. The outsole is exactly the same as that found on the first generation.
