Paco Alcácer (Villarreal CF) - adidas X Ghosted.1

We start with some big news, as the Spanish international from Villarreal appears to have switched sports brands, leaving behind his Nike Phantom GT football boots to switch to the adidas X Ghosted.1. And not only that, but he is also wearing a model from the German brand’s latest collection, the adidas Superlative Pack. The fact that he wore them in an official match suggests that the Yellow Submarine striker may already have signed a deal with the German brand.

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal FC) - Puma Future Z

The French player at the London club continues to make headlines in the world of football boots. The Arsenal striker is still training in boots from other brands, even though he is still under contract with Nike. In fact, although he has been seen training in various adidas models in recent weeks, the reality is that Lacazette continues to play official matches in his Nike Mercurial Vapor boots. However, the highlight of the last few days is that the French international has now been spotted training in the new Puma Future Z. Are we looking at another big name who could leave Nike to sign for Puma?

Pedro Gonçalves (Sporting CP) & Pizzi (SL Benfica) - adidas X Ghosted.1

We’re featuring this football boot model again—which we’ve already covered in this episode—because of one particular detail: in Portugal, in a league as prominent as the Liga NOS, and specifically at clubs like Sporting CP and SL Benfica, there are only two players wearing the latest models from the new adidas collection. In this case, Pedro Gonçalves and Pizzi. Could it be because the Liga NOS lacks the media exposure the German brand is seeking? Or are there other factors at play?

Luiz Adriano (Palmeiras) - adidas Nemeziz .1

Palmeiras, the recent Copa Libertadores champions—a club sponsored by Puma, where many of the players wear football boots from the German brand—had just one player in the final of South America’s most important tournament wearing one of the latest models on the market. Luiz Adriano took to the pitch in this crucial final wearing the new adidas Nemeziz .1 from the Superlative Pack. This is a major point in favour of the German brand, which understood the significance of this match and the media coverage it generates, ensuring that one of its most important players in Brazil was wearing one of its latest football boot models in time for the final.
