The new star of Fútbol Club Barcelona is surprising everyone with his impressive performance at such a young age, but we were struck by something else. A few days ago, we found a photo of Pablo Gavi playing with the laces of his Phantom GT2 football boots untied.
At first, we thought it was an isolated incident in which the footballer's shoelaces had come undone, and the magic of photography captured that moment, but nothing could be further from the truth. Looking for more snapshots of Gavi, we realised that this is a common practice for the young FC Barcelona player, and that both with his club and with the Spanish national team, he plays with the laces of his Nike football boots untied.
While gathering information on this topic, we found several hypotheses. Some say that the footballer gets very nervous before the start of matches, which causes him to forget to tie the laces on his Nike Phantom GT2 football boots. Others say that there was a match in which Pablo Gavi's boots came untied, and from that moment on he began to play at a superlative level, so now he always wears them untied as a good luck charm to play at that level.
To us, frankly, it seems like mere superstition on the part of the young Andalusian player, but it is true that this practice could have a negative impact on his game, as it would not be surprising if he stepped on his laces, or if an opponent did so, causing Gavi to take a tumble.
Be that as it may, the issue has gone viral in recent days, and the footballer himself has shared an image on social media of his teammate Nico tying his football boot laces during the Champions League match between Barça and Dynamo Kyiv, mentioning that he couldn't do it himself because he was wearing gloves.
Superstition? Nerves? Comfort? Feel free to share your opinion on our social media channels, where we read your comments every day.
