The strange case of Maxime Lopez

During the Sassuolo vs Cagliari match, in addition to seeing many beautiful goals and spectacular plays, we encountered a very curious case involving a Neroverde player. It involves Maxime Lopez, a French player who does something very strange with his football boots. If you want to know more, read this post.

Maxime Lopez is a 23-year-old who plays for Sassuolo and is gradually becoming increasingly important to his team. As well as being a key player for Dionisi's side, he has also become a player of great interest to football boot enthusiasts. Why? Let us explain!

After watching the highlights of Sassuolo vs. Cagliari, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw, we noticed that Sassuolo's number eight, Maxime Lopez, does something very unusual with his football boots. Let's put this into context: the Frenchman is an adidas player and wears Nemeziz boots, a model that is no longer in production. Although that could be the case, it's not the strangest thing, but rather the following: Maxime Lopez plays with two different Nemeziz boots!

You read that correctly: the footballer in question plays with a different boot on each foot, or rather, he plays with two identical boots, but modifies one of them. If we look closely at his boots, we can see that he wears a Nemeziz.1 and removes the laces from the other, so that he has a boot with laces on one foot and one without on the other. But why does he do this?

We are quite confident in our answer, although it is obviously a completely personal opinion, so we would like to read your opinions in the comments. Maxime Lopez is a player who likes to have the ball close to his feet at all times, a midfielder who defends and attacks very well, and his dominant foot is his right, which is the foot he wears the laceless Nemeziz on. In our opinion, he does this to keep the instep area as free as possible and not obstruct it with laces. This way, he has the metatarsal area completely clear, making him feel more comfortable when dribbling and striking the ball. What do you think? Why do you think he does it?
