Nike has unveiled a new model of football boots. Although the current situation in football is challenging, the American brand has never stopped surprising us with new models and new colourways. In fact, amongst the leading brands in the football boot market, Nike is probably one of those that has launched the most new products for fans, with numerous collections and plenty of surprises.
Today we want to tell you about a pair of boots that we’ve already seen on the feet of the man who, for many, is the greatest player of all time. We’re talking about Cristiano Ronaldo’s football boots. Nike has launched a pair of Mercurials inspired by one of its most iconic models from the past: the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, which Cristiano Ronaldo wore during his time at Real Madrid in 2010. As you know, the brand’s aim is to revive past models worn by legendary stars and bring them back into the present, adapting them for new generations of footballers.
This colourway did not originate in the world of football, nor, in fact, did it originate with Nike football boots. The American brand originally introduced this pattern on the Air Safari running shoes in 1987, and its aesthetic broke with convention, transforming the design of high-performance sneakers. Back then, Nike’s revolutionary designer and the father of the Air Jordan range, Tinker Hatfield, began exploring unconventional materials, patterns and colours for use in his trainers. Thus was born the now legendary pattern inspired by ostrich skin.
We can see here how the Mercurials are finished in a very light grey and a fluorescent green that complement each other perfectly. It’s a really bold colourway that will undoubtedly divide opinion amongst fans of this silhouette and, above all, amongst enthusiasts of the Mercurial Safari.
