Nike React Gato or Nike Lunar Gato

Nike’s two star futsal shoes go head to head – let’s see which one comes out on top.

First of all, it’s worth noting that these are two high-end models, and as such, the quality and build of both are simply superb. Having said that, let’s get started.

NIKE FUTSAL SHOES

We’ll start with the last and the construction of both models, which, although they share the same name, have certain differences. As for the upper construction, the Nike React Gato features a full Flyknit upper with a synthetic overlay to protect it from potential abrasions.

As for the last, it is considerably wider than its sister model, which is a godsend in terms of comfort; what’s more, thanks to the use of Flyknit, we can rest assured that this material won’t stretch too much or expand excessively, making it extremely comfortable right from the very first wear.

Moving on to its sister model, the Nike Lunar Gato, we have a much more classic construction, with natural leather used on the forefoot and the famous Hyperfuse on the rear, which is the mesh that wraps around the entire heel counter.

The last is narrower, so this shoe will suit narrow feet better; however, those with wider feet needn’t worry too much, as the natural leather will stretch, and unless your feet are exceptionally wide, they’ll likely mould to your shape.

Moving on, we need to talk about the reinforcements and details: the toe cap reinforcement is more pronounced on the Nike Lunar Gato, and the stitching also provides extra reinforcement to the shoe.

As for the Nike React Gato, it features a rubber reinforcement that is slightly more pronounced and sturdy but offers less protection, and this is perhaps the area where the shoe could do with some reinforcement. A reinforcement on the side wouldn’t go amiss, as this is an area that inevitably wears out over time.

And now we come to perhaps the most important part of these shoes – the very feature that gives them their name: the sole. Both feature technologies developed within the Nike Lab, and we can say that you can’t go wrong with either of them; however, let’s take a look at the differences. The sole of the Lunar Gato features Lunarloon, an EVA midsole, which is primarily responsible for cushioning and absorbing the impact of each step.

It’s very comfortable and its mid-cut design makes it easy to lift the ball. When it comes to controlling the ball, the sole offers good grip and is perfect for quick changes of direction, as it’s certainly lightweight.

As for the Nike React Gato, it features Nike’s latest technology and it shows; the React Element provides a greater sense of cushioning and the shoe responds well, as it is slightly softer and allows for greater shock absorption.

And let’s talk about the suction cups – that standout feature that really lets you feel the ball even more, as the suction cups are connected to the interior, so you can genuinely feel the ball inside, whether you’re turning, dribbling or feinting.

What’s more, these suction cups allow for an even more aggressive stride on the track, giving us that extra bit of grip that’s much appreciated.

In conclusion, these are two pairs of shoes with distinctive features. We would recommend the Nike React Gato to those with wider feet who prefer a shoe that fits a bit more snugly. However, for those of you with slightly narrower feet, or who prefer a more classic shoe, the Nike Lunar Gato is the one for you.
