Nike Tiempo Premier football boots
With the launch of the first Nike Tiempo Premier boots, Nike gave us a fantastic alternative to the other football boots on the market: a high-quality kangaroo leather boot reminiscent of Nike’s earliest football boots, and at a bargain price. Now we’ve reached the third generation of this boot, which is a real treat for lovers of classic boots.
The construction has changed, as the boot’s main structure has been modified. We still have kangaroo leather, with different stitching to prevent the leather from stretching too much, but sections of synthetic leather have been added to improve the boot’s fit and how it hugs the foot. As we can see, this wasn’t a feature of the previous model.
Let’s not be mistaken: the classic leather construction remains very similar to that of the Nike Tiempo Air Legend 2, but two touch panels have been added to the sides, taken directly from the Nike Tiempo Legend Elite 9, the American brand’s latest model. This feature was not present in the previous model and will aid with inside touches and passes.
We’ve kept the classic tongue design of this Silo, but it’s clearly been updated with a more aggressive look. The Velcro fastening remains to keep the tongue in place, and there’s another handy feature: a guide on the inside of the tongue so you can trim it if you fancy. It’s a small detail, but it’s great that they’ve included it.
Moving on to the details, there’s a new feature that alters the structure compared to the previous generation: the synthetic leather panel on the heel counter has been redesigned and now extends all the way to the top of the heel. This ensures the boot fits even more securely around the foot. Furthermore, the strip, which runs across the entire boot, features an aesthetic detail bearing the Premier surname, somewhat reminiscent of what we had previously seen on certain Nike Tiempo R10 models in the special editions dedicated to the Brazilian star.
The Nike logo, which appears on the outside of the heel, has also been updated, changing from the classic 90s design to an even more classic one, featuring the lion’s mane patterns surrounding the word ‘Nike’ – something we think is wonderful.
As for the sole, we haven’t seen any changes yet, as the anti-clog sole remains the same as in the previous generation and continues to offer access to incredible technology at a very low price.
In short, this update improves the boot’s fit and lockdown; however, you may need to wear it a few times to get it to mould to your foot, as it doesn’t feel quite as ‘plush’ as the second generation—or even the first. Otherwise, it’s an update that firmly upholds the legacy of what is probably the best boot of its kind.
