For football boot enthusiasts, these new Predators come as no great surprise, at least as far as their design is concerned. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen adidas-sponsored players – known for wearing Predators – on several occasions sporting what appeared to be a ‘blackout’ version of the Predator. Although it wasn’t easy to tell exactly which model it was, its silhouette and, above all, that unmistakable Predator essence left little room for doubt. Images and the model name soon began circulating on social media around the world, and the hype surrounding the new adidas Predator 20 grew so much that it proved virtually impossible for the German brand to keep all the details of this new generation under wraps.

The new year couldn’t have got off to a better start: adidas is unveiling a new generation of football boots, featuring a revamped design and a colour scheme that couldn’t be more representative of the brand. The adidas Predator 20 arrives in a launch colourway combining red, white and black – three of adidas’s most recognisable colours. Their aesthetic is increasingly aligned with that aggressive, animal-inspired look that the German brand seeks to convey with a boot bearing the Predator name. This new, cutting-edge design bears certain similarities to the 1994 adidas Predator OG, and those familiar with the history of this range will know exactly what we mean.
Unlike the transition from the Predator 18 to the 19, this new generation of the adidas Predator 20 features a much more radical redesign compared to its predecessor. Whilst it retains a one-piece Primeknit upper, it incorporates significant changes to both the design and construction of the boot. In the forefoot area, there are much more pronounced decorative elements, whilst the collar features a taller structure that offers a much more natural fit.
The new Demonskin technology is simply an evolution of the Predator Element. It retains its key features, but offers greater grip thanks to the herringbone-patterned rubber elements distributed across the upper.
The outsole is another area where we find one of its major innovations. The adidas Predator 20+ features a spectacular, completely new modular outsole, constructed in two parts. The German brand had already introduced a similar design in May, with the new generation of the Nemeziz, the adidas Nemeziz 19. An outsole that continues to impress with its exceptional comfort, but which, in this new version, does away with the traditional Boost technology, which has historically been such a staple of the adidas Predator range.
