Firstly, we'd start by analysing everything that’s happened at home – that is, the key results from our league, Serie A, which has treated us to plenty of goals and some real thrills.
At last we can say that we have a league that’s fiercely contested right up to the end. Although Juventus, after thrashing Lecce 4–0 with a spectacular goal from Dybala, continue to top the table with a four-point lead, Inter and Lazio remain hot on their heels and seem not to know what it means to lose. Both teams secured a 2–1 victory after coming back from an early goal conceded.
Inzaghi’s side, after conceding a magnificent goal from Ribéry, managed to turn the match around thanks to a controversial penalty and a goal from Luis Alberto, who is in spectacular form at the moment. For their part, Inter staged their comeback thanks to their two centre-backs, Bastoni and De Vrij.
But the race for European places is also more wide open than ever, especially following Milan’s 2–0 victory over Roma, with Rebic increasingly establishing himself as the Rossoneri’s top scorer. Napoli also managed to take all three points against a SPAL side facing an increasingly tough battle to avoid relegation, as they share the bottom spot in the table with Brescia.
Furthermore, we saw an Atalanta side that struggled a little more than usual, largely due to the wall they faced in the form of Udinese’s goalkeeper, Musso. However, thanks to two spectacular goals from Muriel, they managed to secure a 3–2 victory.
Let’s now turn our attention to the Spanish league, which has become very exciting at the moment. Barcelona, after drawing against Sevilla, dropped another two points on their trip to Celta Vigo, where they ended up drawing 2–2. Despite this, they produced one of the highlights of the match with a truly clever one-two between Messi and Suárez.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, haven’t dropped a single point. Since returning to action, the Whites have yet to lose or draw a single match. Last night, too, they managed to secure a win at Espanyol’s tricky ground thanks to a marvellous goal from Casemiro, following a brilliant backheel assist from Benzema.
We’ll finish with the English and German leagues, about which there is little left to say or comment on, as both are practically decided. Liverpool were crowned champions with seven matchdays to spare, whilst Bayern Munich have also retained the title in Germany.
