Nike React Gato VS adidas Top Sala

With the return of the adidas Top Sala, many of us thought that the Nike Lunar Gato would finally have a worthy rival. However, Nike surprised everyone with the launch of one of the biggest innovations we’ve seen in futsal over the last 15 years. The Nike React Gato have arrived with the aim of ushering in a new era, and today we’re going to analyse what each model has to offer and what their main strengths are for futsal players.

Far more than just a simple comparison to find out which is the best futsal shoe on the market right now, this article aims to help you understand in detail the strengths of each of these ranges, as well as their less positive aspects.

The upper of this shoe is made from synthetic leather, a very soft material that moulds easily to the foot. Its perfect construction ensures excellent ball feel, whether receiving the ball or dribbling at speed. Durability is also assured, as it features a reinforced and protective panel finished with traditional stitching.

Moreover, the sides of this adidas futsal shoe feature mesh panels, which help to keep the weight down and ensure good breathability. These areas are reinforced with synthetic strips, similar to the material used in the upper, which prevent the shoe from deforming excessively during changes of direction and sudden lateral movements – something that is very common in a sport such as futsal.

We’ve saved the most interesting bit for last: the midsole, where we find two materials that really bring this trainer to life. The EVA foam and adiPrene work together to provide the right level of cushioning in all kinds of situations, right from the moment you slip them on.

We’ve now reached the bit you’ve probably all been waiting for: a look at the technologies in this new range and what we can expect from them on the pitch. These new Nike React Gato futsal shoes feature a rather revolutionary concept, offering us a new way of understanding control and cushioning underfoot.

The outsole is made almost entirely from React foam, a material that sets these futsal shoes apart from other ranges on the market. Its composition provides players with much more responsive cushioning, whilst offering a great sense of softness and bounce with every movement and every impact.

What is more, the upper of this Nike futsal shoe also plays an important role, as it has been completely redesigned. The soft feel you get when you first touch the shoe is down to their extremely soft Flyknit upper. At the same time, the protective TPU layer provides greater durability.

Positive aspects

With the adidas Top Sala, we have to highlight how incredibly lightweight they are, the fact that the seams on the toe box never cause any discomfort, and that this area is heavily reinforced – both to protect against abrasion and for those players who like to strike the ball with the toe of their boot. On the downside, we would have liked the shoe to feature BOOST in the sole rather than adiPrene. We think that would have been a major plus, although it would probably also have made the boot considerably more expensive. As for the React Gato, we’d highlight the comfort provided by its React sole, as well as the above-average comfort offered by its upper. Among its less positive aspects, it might have been worth reinforcing the toe box a little more and making the most of the Flyknit’s characteristics in the upper to achieve a larger contact surface with the ball, without any elements that might distract us during play.

And these are, as things stand, two of the top futsal shoes on the market today – two models capable of delighting any futsal player. We hope this brief analysis of their main strengths has been helpful, and, as always, we invite you to share your thoughts on these shoes in our comments section.
