Real Betis 1960's Retro Football

The first half of the 1960s was a great time for Real Betis under the legendary president Benito Villamarín. The club acquired its own stadium and prospered in La Liga after its return in 1959. For the next five seasons, Betis always finished in the top ten and reached third place in 1964.

The fortunes faded after Villamarin's departure in 1965 and the rest of the decade brought an existence alternating between the league's two major divisions.
