As you know, Puma is currently one of the most important players in the world of sport, but in recent years it has taken a significant step forward. According to many (and we agree), it is on a par with brands such as Nike and adidas, as it offers high-quality products at reasonable prices. In fact, in recent years we’ve seen many players join the Puma family, wearing their football boots. We’ve seen Suárez switch from adidas to Puma, whilst players such as Griezmann and Agüero still rely on the German brand to this day – a clear sign that Puma is doing a great job.
Among the footballers sponsored by Puma is Marco Reus, captain of Borussia Dortmund, an attacking player who has been wearing the Puma Future for years, but in a different way. As many of you will have noticed, he wears them without laces, to strike the ball without any hindrance and feel complete freedom. And just like Reus, we’ve also wanted to try them out and tell you what we thought.
First of all, it’s worth noting that the German player wears customised football boots. This means they are made exclusively for his foot, tailored to its exact shape. Obviously, this is not the case with boots that anyone could buy in a shop.
One of our main concerns before carrying out this test was the risk of sustaining some sort of injury due to a possible lack of stability for the foot inside the boot. In other words, we thought the foot might move around too much as there were no laces. However, this wasn’t the case. The foot remains completely secure and comfortable, mainly thanks to the upper material, which is made from a highly elastic synthetic material that moulds perfectly to the shape of the foot. This makes it possible to wear them even without laces. That said, this only works if you choose the correct size: not half a size bigger or half a size smaller.
