Arsenal x adidas x 424: an interesting collab

Another collaboration between a fashion brand and a football club: today we’re taking a look at the project between adidas, Arsenal and 424. Let’s find out what it’s all about!

It’s now a well-established fact that football and fashion go hand in hand – two worlds that are becoming increasingly interconnected and which are once again demonstrating that bond today. Quite frankly, we’re passionate about both worlds and believe they’re setting the tone for the years to come. We wouldn’t be surprised if, before long, practically every club were collaborating with fashion brands. What we’re looking at today is yet another example of how two seemingly distant worlds are joining forces and setting trends in the market. Let’s take a closer look at what this is all about.

We’re all familiar with both Arsenal and adidas, two historic icons in the worlds of football and fashion. Over the past year, we’ve seen how both brands have navigated this terrain with ease, constantly creating exclusive collections and accessories. We recently saw items from the Pastel Pack, as well as a collection in collaboration with Pharrell and Human Race; in short, various projects aimed at expanding and connecting with other worlds.

To be honest, we weren't familiar with the brand they’ve teamed up with for this latest collaboration, but after doing a bit of research,  weexactly what it’s all about. 424 is a men’s fashion label specialising in luxury streetwear, founded in 2015 by Guillermo Andrade. The brand’s products are often inspired by contemporary art, and many of the designs are created and hand-drawn by Guillermo himself.

Behind this project lies a collaboration that has been developing for several years, with Guillermo Andrade and Héctor Bellerín, the Gunners’ player, at the helm.

Most of the information we’ve been able to gather comes from a short documentary that we’d recommend you watch. This brief video tells practically the whole story: how the project’s key figures met, how the idea came about, and how it eventually took shape.

One of the most carefully considered aspects of the project has been precisely the fusion of streetwear with sportswear, creating products where comfort and ease of wear take centre stage, yet without sacrificing elegance or that artistic flair. That was exactly the creative process that led Guillermo and Héctor to design all the accessories that will go on sale in very limited quantities on the 16th of March 2021.

The collaboration includes a full match kit: jersey, shorts and socks. There are also plenty of accessories for players’ everyday wear, such as hoodies, flip-flops, jackets and caps.

Sneaker enthusiasts will also have the chance to get their hands on a pair of adidas Ultraboost 21 shoes featuring 424’s signature touch.

The design and colour scheme are consistent throughout the collection: deep black contrasted with a vibrant red, characteristic of 424’s visual identity.
