Brothers and Sisters of the World: that’s how Inter Milan and Nike are announcing the arrival of the third kit, a kit that transcends everything and everyone. Just yesterday, on Tuesday, 14th September, Inter unveiled the only jersey that was missing: the third kit that we will see from now on during the 21/22 season. It is a jersey that has not received much praise from the public in terms of aesthetics, but the message and intention behind it have been appreciated. Let’s take a closer look at what the Nerazzurri have presented to us.
We can see that the third kit, which will mainly be worn in Champions League matches, features a very deep and striking shade of black. If we look at the centre of the jersey, we can see diagonal stripes in different colours. This design has a very specific meaning: to honour the values that have characterised the club since its inception. These values combat inequality but, above all, seek to eliminate all forms of discrimination.
The jersey is inspired by the kit from the 1989–90 season, when the Milan club was sponsored by Uhlsport. That year, too, the jersey featured diagonal stripes. Obviously, the colours were different. In fact, that season saw the classic Inter Milan colours take centre stage: white, black and, of course, blue.
