New Italy Away Kit

It’s getting closer and closer; the wait is almost over: the moment everyone has been waiting for so long has finally arrived, but today’s post is aimed especially at fans of the Italian national team. The EURO is just around the corner, and Puma has made that clear with Italy’s new kit!

The domestic leagues are drawing to a close, which means the start of Euro 2021, a tournament that brings together Europe’s best national teams with a single goal: to win and lift the trophy. Although this year won’t be quite the usual celebration, due to pandemic restrictions, both players and fans are eager to embark on this new adventure. And what better way to do so than with the Italy kit, as they head into this competition as one of the main contenders. Puma knows this, which is why they’ve designed a new shirt for the Azzurri. Let’s take a look at what it’s all about.

A brand new jersey

There are plenty of rumours doing the rounds: some say that adidas is already set to kit out Italy after the European Championship, whilst others claim that the Azzurri won’t be leaving Puma. Who knows? The only thing that’s certain is that they’ll be playing EURO 2021 in Puma kit. However, let’s be honest: we’re not exactly thrilled by the new design. The contrast with last year’s jersey is, in our opinion, too stark. Last season’s kit represented the Italian national team perfectly, with a classic jersey and a spectacular design featuring Renaissance references: three incredible kits that everyone loved. Expectations were high this year, but Puma hasn’t managed to match last year’s standard.

Italy’s new kit features a very simple design; in fact, many thought it was the training jersey, but they were mistaken. Puma has unveiled the home and away kits, which differ in just one respect: the main colour. For the home kit, it is, of course, blue; for the away kit, white. In both cases, the design is identical. We find the same details, which we’ll now look at together. In the centre of the jersey are two logos: the Puma logo and, of course, the national team crest. A little further down, we see the word ‘Italia’, positioned between two stripes, one green and one red, thus forming the tricolour flag. Then there are some details on the sleeves, which differ slightly between the two jerseys.
