From January 2023, the Italian national team will leave Puma and start wearing Adidas. This news initially seemed like a rumour, but it later turned out to be true. This was a source of joy for many, but sadness for many others. After 18 years with Puma, the Azzurra players will take to the pitch wearing the German brand's signature three stripes. Do we know anything about the new kits? Not yet, except that Adidas will have to do an impeccable job to surpass what Puma has achieved in recent years.
The feline brand has accompanied the Azzurri in their finest moments, during their successes (the 2006 World Cup and, more recently, Euro 2020), but also in their darkest hours, such as their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. What was a nightmare for the Italian national team four years ago could happen again in 2022, as they have not yet qualified for the World Cup in Qatar. That is why Mancini's boys will have to give their all to represent their nation and, for the last time, the German brand Puma.
As mentioned above, it will be difficult to surpass Puma, especially after the Renaissance-inspired jersey, the kit in which the Euro was lifted to the sky at Wembley. According to many, it is the best jersey of all time and, honestly, although it is very difficult to choose one, we can agree with this opinion. The jersey design is certainly spectacular, and the pattern chosen for the three kits—blue, white, and green—fully represents the Renaissance, a historical period for which Italy is known throughout the world.
