At new kit launches, we tend to focus all our attention on the jerseys, whilst other items in the kit take a back seat. This is a mistake, as one of the items most frequently worn and bought by younger fans is precisely the club’s shorts. They’re worn for training, playing sport, relaxing at home, going to the beach or even going out with friends. Lionel Messi stayed at FC Barcelona for another season and had the chance to wear a kit featuring a colour combination that is unusual in the club’s recent history. Although the third jersey divided opinion due to its light pink hue, the shorts in this kit really stand out.
They feature a striking aqua green colour that gives the kit plenty of character and makes it highly visible. Furthermore, the FC Barcelona crest incorporates pink detailing that blends perfectly with the black Nike logo, creating a modern and distinctive look.
CHELSEA FC
We must congratulate Nike and Chelsea, who have unveiled what many consider to be perhaps the finest kits in England; they combine the club’s history, tradition, innovation and modernity, which is why we want to include all three styles of shorts from the London club. The home kit shorts are the most classic: blue dominates the entire garment and they feature two white and sky-blue stripes. The away pair of shorts features virtually the same colours as the home ones, but inverted, with white and sky-blue taking centre stage and the darker blue appearing in the two stripes. Finally, we have the most modern pair, in a much bolder and more daring colour: a salmon pink has been chosen for the London club’s third pair of shorts.
REAL MADRID
The third option is for the reigning Spanish champions. Real Madrid have opted for an elegant kit that remains true to their historic identity, something that is also reflected in their shorts.
The design is predominantly white, with the adidas logo and the club crest positioned at the bottom. The most striking detail is the three adidas stripes in pink, a feature that adds character to the design and also ties in with other elements of this season’s collection.
AS ROMA
To round off this selection, we’ve chosen a club from the Italian league – Serie A, to be precise. AS Roma have unveiled an away kit that pays tribute to the history of the city and of the club itself.
Whilst the jersey features white as the dominant colour, the shorts incorporate the characteristic maroon shade that identifies the Roman club and which complements the rest of the kit perfectly. One of the most distinctive features of this design is the crest, as the famous Capitoline she-wolf – a historic symbol of the city of Rome and its legendary origins – appears in place of the usual emblem.
This detail makes the kit one of the most distinctive and meaningful designs of the entire season.
