We’ll start with the new New Balance Furon V6+ model, which has undergone a restyling – something we’re seeing more and more from brands, where they simply update one of their models by tweaking certain details, but without making enough changes to warrant calling it a new generation. However, although the changes are subtle, they’re striking enough to be worth mentioning.
The key change lies in the new upper, known as FitWave. Made from knit fabric, it undoubtedly makes this one of the most comfortable sprinting shoes available today. Naturally, this upper features a textured surface that provides that extra grip when running at top speed – a real winner.
As expected, it’s a very lightweight football boot that fits the foot perfectly, with a brilliant heel counter that has been slightly redesigned to provide an even better fit than the previous generation. The new design secures the heel even more firmly to the base, giving a greater sense of security with every stride. As for the sole, there are no changes, and we have a perfect sole that combines excellent responsiveness with truly aggressive traction. This aggressive grip is achieved through the inclusion of arrow-shaped studs in all directions and a very prominent stabilising bridge, on a last that is perhaps a little narrow.
New Balance Tekela
Next up is the other NB boot, which features a laceless design and, although it isn’t a complete revamp, boasts one of the most striking looks to come along in recent times. The colours of this boot are sure to make you stand out on the pitch.
The upper is made entirely from knit fabric and offers one of the best feels of any laceless boot, as it retains that lockdown characteristic of the early models without compromising on the elegant look expected of this type of boot.
The Kinetic Stich is the weave that wraps around the entire boot, providing grip and power with every shot and pass we make. This blend of foam and knit offers a bit of structure that you’ll definitely notice.
As for the sole, it is one of the most classic designs available today, featuring semi-conical studs that provide very natural traction and ease of rotation on any pitch we play on.
And here are the new NB football boots for 2021: a striking new colourway for the Tekela and, above all, an upgrade for the Furon, which remains one of the best value-for-money boots in today’s elite range.
