The adidas Boca Juniors kit instinctively takes us on a brief journey back in time. At last we can see it! After a 23-year commercial partnership between the American brand Nike and the Xeneizes, Boca Juniors are set to change their kit sponsor. This will affect not only the football team, but the entire club.
As we have mentioned, across all of Boca’s social media channels, we were able to see a short teaser announcing this new partnership, as well as during the club’s pre-season training sessions. With this new move, Boca is reviving a relationship that previously existed from 1981 until July 1993. Following that, the club moved on to Topper, then Olan, and finally established a partnership with Nike.
New adidas Boca Juniors jersey
The world of official football jerseys represents the very pinnacle for sports brands – with the sole exception of signing a superstar. Adidas is well aware of this, as the agreement between the two parties runs for the next 10 years, meaning that the brand with the three stripes is expanding its vast portfolio of clubs to include the Real Madrid kit, the Manchester United kit, the Bayern Munich kit, the Juventus kit and, of course, that of its eternal rival: the River Plate kit.
As is usually the case in this sort of negotiation, the change has come about because the German multinational offers better financial terms than Nike. Until a few weeks ago, things were not looking promising in that regard, and just as the agreement with the brand that has been sponsoring Boca since 1995 was ready to be signed, one factor threw a spanner in the works: the dollar exchange rate.
When it comes to aesthetics, the word ‘classic’ best describes Boca Juniors’ new shirt. Boca Juniors’ new 2020–2021 home jersey features a simple design, based on the club’s signature look: a dark blue base combined with a yellow stripe across the chest, whilst the three stripes sit on the shoulders of Boca Juniors’ new 2020 home kit. The cuffs are wide and feature a yellow stripe down the centre. To round off the design – and to strike a chord with the emotions and hearts of Xeneizes supporters – the words ‘Mitad +1’ are written across the upper back. This means that half the world’s population plus one are Boca Juniors supporters; in other words, they make up more than half, whilst all other teams make up the other half.
Technical features: 2020 Boca Juniors jersey
In this respect, practically nothing changes compared to the rest of the adidas kits. Climachill will be the top-of-the-range technology, and it is this that the players will wear in their matches – Boca’s premium jersey. This is the one designed to minimise friction and provide ventilation. Of course, with this top-of-the-range Xeneizes kit, lightness and an optimal fit will be key to ensuring that both you and the players perform in the best possible conditions. Not everything is top-of-the-range, which is why adidas, as it does every year, offers the option to purchase the mid-range jersey featuring Climalite technology. Don’t let that put you under any illusions – this technology is designed to provide you with the best conditions for your matches, friendly games and even casual runs. In both the top-of-the-range and mid-range ranges, the crest will be vinyl-applied to ensure that friction isn’t an issue.
