The new adidas Predator 20+ futsal shoes are hitting courts around the world. Thanks to their design, technology and innovation, they have been the talk of the town in recent weeks, not only in the world of football boots but also in the world of goalkeeper gloves. The time has come for the beast to hit the futsal shoe market, and it’s set to revolutionise the entire market.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, we should point out that here at Fútbol Emotion we’ve been keeping a very close eye on this range within futsal. The question we’ve always asked ourselves was: ‘How long do the adidas Predator futsal shoes last?’ Well, ever since they were launched back in 2018, we’ve had a few doubts, as their upper and Boost technology left us somewhat sceptical. Thanks to Víctor Tejel, a player who wore the Fútbol Emotion Zaragoza jersey, all those doubts were dispelled. Now, the question we’re asking is: following the return of the new adidas Top Sala futsal shoes, will adidas be able to cope with two top models on the court? Only time will tell…

This new generation of the adidas Predator is not simply a ‘restyling’, as we saw with the transition from the adidas Predator 18 to the adidas Predator 19, nor is it merely an adaptation for futsal. This new generation represents a COMPLETE makeover. If we analyse the upper of this adidas futsal shoe, the first thing to note is that it remains a one-piece construction made from Primeknit, a material that has already been used in previous versions and which has achieved a level of comfort that has won over even the most demanding players.

But the reality is that the first thing that catches the eye are the rubber studs covering the main areas that come into contact with the ball, with different sizes and thicknesses depending on their location; the inner instep, toe and front outer side are the areas chosen for these components. Furthermore, this time there is a scientific study demonstrating the effectiveness of these striking elements, which increase spin by 10 per cent. This new technology has been named ‘Demonskin’ and is the brand with the three stripes’ major new venture.

Another striking feature is the new ‘collar’; just when the trend seemed to suggest that this element was gradually being scaled back, the Germans have come up with an incredibly high collar that covers the ankle almost completely, yet thanks to its elasticity… This feature doesn’t make it any harder to slip your foot into the shoe than it usually is… The entire upper has been covered with a synthetic layer that protects the Primeknit yarn, providing breathability and helping to extend the lifespan of our shoes.

Moreover, another feature never seen before is the outsole/midsole combination in the Predator range for futsal. There is no midsole – it’s a pure low-profile design tailored for players whose true obsession is attack and dribbling.  But what’s most surprising is that, just as with the adidas Predator 20+ football boots, adidas has introduced a modular, two-piece outsole, separating the metatarsal area from the heel and thereby lightening the new plate. It is true that this new generation features two different densities and two different types of rubber; the rubber covering the metatarsal area is designed primarily for grip, sacrificing durability to some extent. On the other hand, the rubber in the heel is a standard ‘caramel’ sole, designed to withstand the most severe abrasion.
