New Nike Phantom GT ll Shockwave

Nike presents the Phantom GT2 ‘Shockwave’, a new design for the American brand’s most versatile range.

Just over a month ago, Nike surprised us with the launch of the Phantom GT2 UV football boots, a standalone release from the American brand’s Phantom range, without its two sister models, the Tiempo and Mercurial.

Today, we have another exclusive launch of the Nike Phantom GT2 football boots, this time with a design that bears no resemblance to the previous one, nor to any other we’ve ever seen on this model. “Shockwave” is the name chosen for this edition of the Phantom GT2, and it hasn’t been chosen at random, as we can see it represented in the design.

We won’t be discussing technical specifications, as there are no technological changes in this edition. This is simply a facelift for a model that Nike is increasingly promoting, although it’s certainly true that if there’s one model from the American brand that needs a boost, it’s undoubtedly the Phantom GT2.

Speaking of the design, as we mentioned earlier, this edition is called ‘Shockwave’, a concept that is clearly reflected in the upper of the Phantom GT2 football boots with a striking, vibrant green. Furthermore, the black base colour that Nike has chosen for the Phantom GT2 makes the green stand out even more.

Moving on to the details, we can see that both the Swoosh and the silo logo are finished in silver. Whilst this certainly fits perfectly with the ‘Shockwave’ concept that inspired the Americans for this project, I’m left wondering how these Nike Phantom GT2 football boots would have looked with all the details in pure white.

Like the Nike Phantom GT2 UV mentioned earlier, these boots won’t be worn on the pitch by the line’s most prominent players, though that doesn’t mean some of them might not fall in love with this edition and decide to wear them in a specific match.

Nike is back with an exclusive edition of the Phantom GT2, proving that even though the Tiempo and Mercurial are the brand’s flagship models, they haven’t forgotten the Phantom GT2’s significance in the world of football boots. That’s why they’ve brought us another exclusive colourway for this model, which is, of course, now available in-store and on the Fútbol Emotion website
