ADIDAS PREDATOR 20 FOOTBALL BOOTS
The adidas Predator football boots are, by far, the German brand’s most iconic boot range – if not the entire market’s – and following their return in November 2017, with their laceless version, Predator has once again become the best-selling model we all know and love.
This new generation of the adidas Predator isn’t just a simple ‘restyling’, as we saw with the transition from the adidas Predator 18 to the adidas Predator 19. This new generation has undergone a TOTAL makeover.
If we look at the upper of the adidas boot, the first thing to note is that it is still made from Primeknit, a material that has already been used in previous versions and which has achieved a level of comfort that has won over even the most demanding players.
But the reality is that the first thing that catches the eye are the 406 rubber spikes covering the main areas that come into contact with the ball. Yes, 406 – not one more, not one less – in different sizes and thicknesses depending on their location, with the inner instep, toe and outer forefoot being the areas chosen for these studs. Furthermore, this time there is a scientific study demonstrating the effectiveness of these striking elements, which increase spin by ‘10’ per cent. This new technology has been dubbed ‘Demonskin’ and is the brand with the three stripes’ big bet.
Another striking feature is the new ‘collar’; whilst the trend seemed to suggest that this element was gradually becoming smaller, the Germans have come up with an incredibly high collar that covers the ankle almost completely, yet – thanks to its elasticity – doesn’t make it any harder to slip your foot into the boot than it usually is… The entire shell has been covered with a synthetic layer that protects the Primeknit weave, waterproofs the upper and helps to extend the lifespan of our boots.
Moreover, another element undergoing a significant change is the outsole, which – after more than 15 years – once again features a modular, two-piece design, separating the forefoot from the heel and thereby lightening the new CONTROLFRAME plate. The studs have changed shape and are now more rounded compared to the previous generation, similar to those found in the adidas Nemeziz range of football boots and in line with the trend towards shorter, rounder studs that are better suited to modern football pitches.
These are the new adidas Predator 20 football boots, part of the new adidas Mutator Pack, and they are now available on the Fútbol Emotion website.
