A new collection of Nike football boots. The anticipation among fans is building once again, as not only the Bundesliga but all the other top European leagues are set to kick off in the coming weeks. There’s a tremendous eagerness for the footballs to start rolling. After this break, we need to be fully prepared, with the best possible tools, both mentally and physically. That’s why Nike has reset its systems, changed gears, and is showing off all its power in this final sprint.
Neighborhood Pack by Nike football
Let’s start with the design of this new pack, where even the ‘Swoosh’ is ‘broken’. The symbol, representing the wing of the goddess Nike, was created by Carolyn Davidson, the designer of the famous logo, who wanted to show the world speed and revolution. Not even this element can withstand the impact of the Neighborhood Pack. We see the Swoosh as if it were a bolt of lightning, or as if the distortion of the elements caused by speed were etched into this new collection. All the football boots will feature the now-famous “Metallic Bomber, Grey, Black & Red” colourway, a fusion of colours that has been seen on more than one occasion with the American brand; furthermore, surrounding the four silos in the collection, the numbers printed on them are the postcodes of the world’s most iconic cities.
If you think this is just a single design change, you’re wrong. The races, the time between corners, left the footballer with practically no time to rest, much like a racing driver who reached the end of the stages completely shattered from trying to win every battle and contest, every race and championship. Well, Neighborhood brings some new features; the new design on the ankle straps is purely aesthetic (it doesn’t affect performance) and is inspired by the rear wings of racing cars. Let’s move on to what really matters: the Elite and Pro versions of the Mercurial range (only) are lighter than previous versions. By ‘previous’, we mean those found, for example, in the Future Lab 2 Pack, to name but one.
Superfly Elite – 206g
Superfly Pro – 220g
Vapor Elite - 196g
Vapor Pro – 215g
Another brilliant feature on the Mercurial Vapor football boots will be a pull tab. The pull tab was initially designed purely for visual appeal – yet testers have confirmed that it now makes it much easier to slip the boot onto your foot. Coincidence or design? And to top it all off, the profile is lower – yes, just like a racing car. Nike talked a lot about how the main idea was the visual impression, that the size and profile would be the same, BUT the truth is they are lower (in profile) than standard production Mercurials.
Technical features: Nike Neighborhood Pack
We begin our round-up of the collection with the latest boot, none other than the Nike Phantom Vision II. As we mentioned in our review, this boot offers an excellent combination of comfort and fit, thanks to the Flyknit construction combined with the internal mesh known as ‘Quadfit’.
The new upper retains the essence of the Phantom whilst improving grip and fit thanks to the new layout of the grip elements, as well as the new, much more minimalist collar. The sole remains exactly the same and retains the semi-conical stud pattern, which is perfect for today’s pitches. A boot without a single flaw.
We’re sticking with the Phantom range, but this time we’re focusing on its sister model, the Nike Phantom Venom football boots, which also feature the crimson and black colourway, giving them a truly aggressive look.
These Phantom boots really boost your striking power with “Precision PWR” technology, which is reminiscent of the 90s boots we loved so much back then. The rest of the upper is made from high-quality synthetic microfibre – it’s no coincidence that they’re the boots of choice for top strikers such as Robert Lewandowski, Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi. A safe bet.
We continue with the most classic yet modern design, and it’s none other than the Nike Tiempo football boots, as seeing a classic-style boot in these colours always catches the eye. The silver detailing runs across the kangaroo leather, with the accents concentrated on the back. A look that’s sure to turn heads.
Sergio Ramos’ football boots, or Gerard Piqué’s boots, are a real treat, as they perfectly combine classic materials—being made from kangaroo leather—with a synthetic heel counter that not only reduces the weight but also provides an excellent fit for a leather boot. The sole features ‘Hyperstability’ technology, which, as the name suggests, maintains stability with every step. The quintessential Nike style with colours that really stand out.
And we’ll finish with perhaps the boots that go best with these colours – as you all know, the Nike Mercurial football boots – a look that you can’t help but fall in love with at first sight, and which is ready to send us flying across the pitch.
The Flyknit construction of these boots is simply outstanding and provides a truly superior fit. The grip on these boots is incredibly aggressive, allowing sprinters to give their all in every race; the boots worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Mbappé are once again at the top of the football boot rankings.
Therefore, here’s the new Nike collection – a groundbreaking range that really stands out on the pitch. Special mention goes to the Mercurial, which we love a bit more every time we see it, and which is made even more special by the latitude details. Which one’s your favourite?
