Excitement and anger in the same measure. These are the two feelings that Spanish fans are experiencing today ahead of Women's EURO 2022. Excitement, because we are approaching the tournament with a team of players who, individually, are on a par with very few countries, so we are all dreaming that the EURO will come to Spain on the 1st of August. On the other hand, there is anger, an emotional state caused by seeing how three players have had to leave the national team's training camp due to injury, and these are not just any three players.
The first was Jenni Hermoso, the top scorer in the history of FC Barcelona Women's team and runner-up in the latest Ballon d'Or awards. Next to fall was Salma Paralluelo, undoubtedly one of the rising stars of Spanish football with skills matched by very few players in the world. And as if all this were not enough, a few days ago the worst news was confirmed. The best player on the planet, Alexia Putellas, suffered a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), an injury that will keep her off the pitch for more than six months.
And right now you must be thinking, what does this have to do with the new jersey for the Spanish women's football team? Well, a little and a lot, because even though these three players won't be wearing them during the tournament, it was only fair and honest that they should have their place in the post about the jerseys that are going to make them European champions.
Let's start with the home jersey, the red one. For the Spanish Women's National Team jersey, adidas has decided to change certain things that make it one of the best jerseys we can remember for the Spanish team. To begin with, the centred placement of the crest, brand logo and number gives a sense of order to the front, allowing the rest of the jersey's details to stand out.
These appear on the shoulders, collar and sleeves, mixing the yellow colour of the three adidas stripes with the dark blue of the collar. The finishing touch is found on the sleeves, where the three colours come together to create the Spanish flag against a dark background, standing out in a subtle and elegant way. In short, as our colleague Elena pointed out in her review on our YouTube channel,‘adidas has opted for a retro, minimalist design reminiscent of the aesthetics of national teams in the 1990s.’
And if the home is beautiful, wait until you see the Spanish Women's National Team's away jersey. The German brand has chosen sky blue for the away kit, a colour that has accompanied the team on previous occasions and may continue to do so in future important events. This time, we have a sublimated base representing the water of the seas and oceans, a cry for sustainability from adidas.
As for the details, these are dyed dark blue on the Spanish Women's National Team's away jersey. Something that caught our attention is that the three adidas stripes do not start at the collar or end at the sleeves, but rather there is a separation between these two parts and the three stripes of the German brand. As for the crest and brand logo, they are still located in the centre, and we don't know if this will be a trend for adidas from now on, but it looks great.
These are the two jerseys for the Spanish Women's National Team for EURO 2022, a great piece of work by adidas that our players will wear on the pitch. As you would expect, they are now available both in stores and on the Fútbol Emotion website.
Today, we're going to take a look at a special top list. We'll be talking about boots that have dropped in price and are now available at crazy cheap prices thanks to some great discounts. Let's find out more!
