The yellow balls of the five major leagues

With the arrival of winter in Europe’s top leagues, we’ve already seen the winter or high-visibility match balls. Let’s take a look at the ones that will be used in the five major leagues: Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France.

Puma Adrenalina

The Spanish league ball for the winter and key matches is now here, and Puma has chosen a very vibrant colour to ensure maximum visibility. This colour is a step away from yellow, leaning more towards a slightly more eye-catching fluorescent shade.

From a technical standpoint, we have the full Puma heritage, with a high-end ball design featuring the customary upper panel construction, which enhances grip and spin. A superb flight and perfect striking, in a high-visibility ball ready for the toughest days and matches; as we mentioned in our review, not only will we see the ball on rainy and foggy days, but it will also be used in the most important matches, such as local derbies or the clásico. A ball that is pure adrenaline.

Nike Flight Premier League

Without a doubt, the best-designed football we’ve seen in recent times. The new Premier League ball, with its comic-style design, which we’ve already seen in recent matches, is a masterpiece.

And as if this incredible design weren’t enough, we have one of the most advanced footballs around today, with Aerowsculpt technology as its key feature; to give us a more controlled flight, Nike has really hit the mark. One of the best footballs around today.

Nike Flight Serie-A

Perhaps overshadowed by the Premier League’s high-vis ball, the new Serie A ball retains its range of bright orange colours to ensure good visibility in fog, rain and conditions with very poor visibility.

Technically, it’s exactly the same as what we discussed earlier, and we can only add that it also features ACC technology, which prevents it from absorbing water and ensures that both striking and control are improved with the Nike ball.

Uhlsport

The football that we’ll see Leo Messi using throughout Ligue 1 is a very eye-catching ball, featuring a mix of bold colours and star-shaped patterns.

The goalkeeper glove brand Uhlsport is responsible for developing this ball, which we will see throughout the tournament; indeed, right from the very first match, we have seen that yellow was the colour chosen for all the matches in the French tournament.  The Elysia features a dual reference to mythology: the name ‘Helios’ is, in mythology, ‘reserved for men, virtuous figures and heroes’. Furthermore, there is also a reference to the Champs-Élysées, the classic venue for celebrating French victories.

Derbystar

We’ll finish with the official Bundesliga ball, produced by the German brand Derbystar, a regular supplier in recent years, which provides us with a ball of the highest quality.

For the winter season, and to ensure the ball remains visible at all times – particularly given the German weather – they’ve opted for a combination of two very striking colours: orange and yellow. Both colours are distributed across the panels, which feature the ball’s textured grip pattern, helping goalkeepers and players maintain better control of it. A classic-style ball ready for the German winter.

And these are the winter balls from the five major leagues, with some very eye-catching and spectacular designs. If I had to choose just one, apart from the Premier League ball, I’d definitely like to see more of Ulhsport’s work. Which one would you choose?
